Microsoft Corporation is an American multinational technology company with headquarters in Redmond, Washington. It develops, manufactures, licenses, supports, and sells computer software, consumer electronics, personal computers, and related services. Its best known software products are the Microsoft Windows line of operating systems, the Microsoft Office suite, and the Internet Explorer and Edge web browsers. Comcast Corporation on the other hand, is an American telecommunications conglomerate headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Comcast owns over-the-air national broadcast network channel NBC, multiple cable-only channels MSNBC, CNBC, USA, Syfy, and E!, and the film studio Universal Pictures. But with the announcement of the Microsoft's takeover of Activision Blizzard, here's an idea I've come up with: What if Microsoft merged with Comcast for $200 billion in early 2023?

History[]

In mid-2023, after its acquisition of Activision Blizzard, CNBC reported that Microsoft was in negotiations to merge with Comcast for $200 billion. The proposed merger was officially announced the next day, subject to regulatory approval; The combined company would be known as Microsoft Comcast, with combined operations in retail, technology, consumer products, film, television and streaming, would be led by Comcast CEO Brian L. Roberts, with Microsoft founder Bill Gates serving as executive chairman, while Microsoft and Comcast would retain their separate brands. In addition, all films and television programs based on Microsoft properties would be made exclusively available on the Peacock library.

Microsoft's assets will be merged with Comcast's content production businesses, while NBCUniversal became part of Microsoft Comcast.

NBCUniversal International Television Production - This division was created in 2008 with the acquisition of UK production company Carnival Film and TV Limited, the company’s first major strategic move into production outside the US. Since then, NBCUniversal International acquired a second UK production company, Monkey Kingdom. The division is chartered with transforming NBCUniversal International into a leading destination for content creators and to drive profitable organic and acquisitive growth through world class international content with high production values.
NBCUniversal International Television Distribution - It is responsible for the distribution of NBCUniversal product to all forms of television and new media outside of the U.S. and Canada. NBCUniversal Cable and New Media Distribution - It is responsible for sales of all NBCUniversal content to both pay and basic cable, as well as new media platforms domestically. This includes all current television and film content from Universal Television, Universal Content Productions, Universal Pictures, Focus Features; various acquired and original content; and NBCUniversal’s vast library of film and television. The division is also responsible for the sale of NBCUniversal content to non-theatrical markets including airlines worldwide.
NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution - It is responsible for the sales and distribution of NBCUniversal product to all forms of television within the U.S. and Canada. The division develops and produces first-run programming and distributes these shows, along with off-network content, to broadcast syndication.
