If Matthew the Dog will officially happen, here is what Kidscreen, Deadline, and Animation Magazine all say about it.
In 2025, while working on Carl the Collector and Season 3 of Donkey Hodie for PBS Kids, Spiffy Pictures will announce to both partner with Mattel Studios and Cartoon Network to work on Matthew the Dog, a new animated interactive preschool series for preschoolers ages 2-5 and will also be in development.
Matthew the Dog stars an anthropomorphic dog called a Beagle named Matthew and his two best friends which are a dog called a Yellow Labrador Retriever named Harry and a dog called a Red & White Chihuahua named Susan who all solve problems and handle emotions in a town called Dogsville, as Matthew will use his imagination to figure things out.
Matthew the Dog takes place in Dogsville, a place to have fun and relax. The residents of Dogsville are dogs so they will all have fun times and solve social skills on handling emotions and figuring things out.
Matthew the Dog is created by brothers Adam & David Rudman (Donkey Hodie, Nature Cat) and is produced by Mattel Studios and Spiffy Pictures. The series is animated by Emmy - and Annie Award-nominated Yowza! Animation in Toronto using Toon Boom software. Brothers Adam & David Rudman, Robbie Brenner, and Jennifer Breslow are Executive Producers, Caroline Bandolik (Nature Cat, Donkey Hodie, Carl the Collector), and Rhonda Cox are Supervising Producers, Scott Scornavacco (Nature Cat, Donkey Hodie) is Coordinating Producer, and David Rudman (Nature Cat, Donkey Hodie, Sesame Street) is Head Writer. Matthew the Dog will debut on Cartoon Network in the US in 2026. It will also be streaming on Netflix worldwide in 2026. It will also air on Treehouse TV in Canada in 2026.
"We are so happy about working on me and my brother Adam's new preschool series on a dog named Matthew," said David Rudman, one of the founders of Spiffy Pictures. "We can't wait for Matthew to teach Social & Emotional Development."
