An American Tale is an upcoming American musical family adventure drama film directed and produced by Jon Favreau, produced by Walt Disney Pictures, and written by David Kirschner and David N. Weiss. It is a live-action remake of Disney's 1986 animated film of the same name. The film stars Alyvia Alyn Lind, Terrell Ransom Jr., Kaitlyin Maher, Ed Helms, Bill Murray, Eddie Murphy, Benedict Cumberbatch, Cheech Marin, Tommy Chong, Anthony Padilla, Emma Thompson, David Harbour and Winona Ryder.
Plans for a An American Tale remake were confirmed in January 2018 following the success of Favreau's The Jungle Book adaptation. Much of the main cast signed on in December and principal filming began that summer on Burbank, California. The film is scheduled to be released on September 1, 2019.

Production
Differences from the original film
- Instead of waking up in Orphan's Alley, along with the orphans breaking her spirit, Anne-Marie wakes up under the pier, and wanders in despair as she remembers good memories with her family back home in Russia.
