~ Nadia Van Dyne

Nadezhda "Nadia" van Dyne (née Pym) is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by Mark Waid and Alan Davis, the character first appeared in Free Comic Book Day 2016 Civil War II (July 2016), and was loosely based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe character Hope van Dyne, played by Evangeline Lilly. Nadia has notably been depicted as one of Marvel's rare asexual heroes. She is also diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

The daughter of Hank and Maria Pym, Nadia was raised as an assassin of the Red Room before escaping with the use of her father's Pym Particles and becoming the Unstoppable Wasp. Like her predecessor and stepmother, Janet van Dyne, Nadia is depicted as having the ability to shrink to a height of several centimeters, fly by means of insectoid wings, and fire bioelectric energy blasts, while like her biological father she has bipolar disorder. She is a founding member of G.I.R.L. as well as a longtime leader of the organization.

  • A version of Nadia appears in the continuity of Marvel's Spider-Man: Webbed Champion. This version (renamed Nadia Watson) is depicted as the 12-year-old younger half-sister of Mary Jane Watson; daughter of Mary Jane’s mother with an unknown Russian scientist who was a colleague of Richard and Mary Parker. At the age of four, Nadia earned the abilities of Size-Shifting, Flight (when small, she produces organic wasp wings in her back), Pyrokinesis and Illumination after Oscorp's last surviving "Dragonfire" (a Pym Particle-powered genetic hybrid of Dragonfly and Firefly) fused with her body. After her parents were killed by Oscorp mercenaries seeking the researches for the Dragonfires, Nadia was taken in by her father’s fellow scientists for her safety.
    • First appearing in the show's tie-in comic book series Princesses of Destiny Issue #11 “Sisters Lost and Found”, Nadia is shown having learned to control her powers with help from her father’s former colleagues before they were killed by Mordecai Midas’s mercenaries under Gayle Watson's employ, and Nadia ended up forced to flee into the nearby forest. She was soon discovered, sought after, and found by Mary Jane / Tigra, who defeated Gayle / Tarantula, and brought Nadia home, where Nadia was welcomed in open arms by Aunt Anna. In the next issue, she is mentioned to have enrolled at Bilderberg Academy under Pepper Potts's request, and to have become best friends with Teresa Parker. She is also shown to have adopted the superhero alias of Dragonfire.
    • Nadia appears in Webbed Champion, voiced by Jessica DiCicco. In episode "Road to the Legendary Universes", on which she is walking home with Mary Jane after a day in Bilderberg Academy before Mary Jane has an argument with Meredith Midas. She is later mentioned to be enjoying a play-date with Teresa while their aunts are enjoying a tea time with Helen Stacy.
    • Nadia makes a non-speaking appearance in A Marvel Christmas Carol. She is shown enjoying the Christmas party in F.E.A.S.T., where she is shown exchanging gifts with Teresa Parker. Nadia and Teresa also watch as their siblings Peter Parker and Mary Jane share a kiss under Groot's mistletoe.
    • Nadia / Dragonfire appears in Marvel's Superhero Adventures: Infinity War, voiced again by Jessica DiCicco. She is first shown enjoying a play-date with Teresa and other children while Aunt May and Carol Danvers discuss plans for Jessica Reilly's marriage. She later appears as Dragonfire during the final battle against Thanos’s Klyntauri on Earth. Later in the epilogue, Nadia is shown attending to Jessica's marriage with Alana Jobson at the New Year night.
    • Nadia / Dragonfire appears in the Disney+ crossover miniseries Marvel's All-Star Multiverse, voiced again by Jessica DiCicco. First appearing in the show's short-episode series Free Adventures, she joins Peter Parker and his friends on their world road trip onboard their personal jetplane provided by Tony Stark.

Concept of Nadia Van Dyne as the Dragonfire in Marvel: All New, All Different Chronicles

  • A version of Nadia Van Dyne appears in Marvel: All New, All Different Chronicles, voiced by Natalie Lander. This version the character (renamed Nadia Lang Van Dyne) is depicted as Hank Pym's granddaughter, and is the 13-year-old daughter of Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne, Cassie Lang's older sister and Gwen Stacy's older cousin. She is a Bilderberg Academy junior student who operates as the superheroine Dragonfire since Oscorp's last surviving "Dragonfire" (a Pym Particle-powered genetic hybrid of Dragonfly and Firefly) fused with her, granting her the abilities of Size-Shifting, Flight (when small, she produces organic wasp wings in her back), Size Addition, Pyrokinesis and Illumination. Despite having her powers, she initially kept them in secret and refused to use them until she overheard of Norman Osborn's growing insanity and, regarding how Osborn was responsible for certain disasters including her aunt Helen's death, begun taking up her superhero alias of Dragonfire. She and Katrina Romanoff / Red Shadow would also join the New Champions led by Spider-Man during the fall of Midtown High School.
