Vampires Next Door is an American horror-comedy comic strip series created by TBD, being published by Moonlake Comics since April 17th, 1996.

Synopsis

Two twin vampires live in the town of Sun City as they use their vampiric abilities for fun and to sometimes torment and mess with their neighbors.

Characters

Main

  • Beth Pire - a comedic and very quirky vampire who is sisters and friends with Jessie.
  • Jessie Pire - a tomboyish and athletic vampire who is sisters and friends with Beth.

Supporting

  • Mr. and Mrs. Pire - Beth and Jessie's vampiric parents who do care about their daughters and are slightly against their actions against the neighborhood.
  • Jack Larkson - a popular jock and the captain of the lacrosse team who both Beth and Jessie have a crush on.
  • Briana Jackson - a geeky teenage girl who is Beth's best friend.
  • Dante Lupin - a mysterious edgy teenager who is revealed to be a werewolf.
  • Principal Mason Max - the constantly attempting to be cool principal of Sun City High who often fails in his attempts to be cool.
  • Halo - a stray Shin-Tzu/Yorkshire Terrier hybrid dog who likes to roam around and loves to lick people.
  • Luigi Canoli - an Italian restaurant owner who loves cooking his famous Italian foods for the good of society.
  • Bobby Bandicoot - an energetic and "cool" fictional bandicoot who is made to make kids and teenagers want to go to Bobby Bandicoot's Wings and Arcade.
  • Big Mabel - a fictional cute woman that is used to advertise Big Mabel's Juicy Burgers.

Antagonists

  • Lana Van Superia - a snobby popular girl who is arch-rivals with Beth and Jessie, finding their vampiric nature to be disgusting.
    • Jean Phillips - Lana's idiotic best friend and yes woman who does whatever she says.
  • Mr. Abe Helsing - an idiotic teacher who despises vampires as he constantly tries to kill Beth and Jessie but fails.
  • Jack Ripper - a muscular bully who loves to bully random people.
  • Laura Jameson - an envious former Big Mabel's employee who wants revenge on them.

Television adaption

Two animated adaptions of the strip were produced in association with Nickelodeon Animation Studios for Nickelodeon, with the first airing from May 17th, 2007 until April 12th, 2013 and the second, serving as a sequel to the former, airing since TBD 2020.

Both shows feature the voices of Ashley Johnson as Beth, Olivia Hack as Jessie, Nolan North and Kath Soucie as Mr. and Mrs. Pire, Greg Cipes as Jack Larson, Kari Wahlgren as Lana Van Superia and Mark Hamill as Mr. Abe Helsing.

Film adaption

In 2016, Paramount Pictures released a CGI film adaption of the strip, featuring the voices of Anna Kendrick as Beth and Hailee Steinfeld as Jessie.
