Thomas Lawrence Marsh is a fictional character from South Park.

Background[]

Thomas Lawrence Marsh was born on February 21, 1854 in Chicago, Illinois to Sebastian Andrew Marsh, an Army Officer, and Astrid Sue Kristiansen, a teacher. Thomas was the third of four children, his brothers were Anthony, Christopher, and Michael.

Thomas's patrilineal line can be traced to Mondesir Marais, who was born in 1629 in Carpentras, Vaucluse, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France. Mondesir emigrated to America as a teenager, where he fell in love with a slave girl named Esther Freeman. Esther was born in 1634 in St. Mary's City, Maryland, the daughter of slaves Joseph Freeman and Ruby Upshaw. Joseph was born in 1612 in Luanda, Angola, when he was captured and sold to New York before being sold to a plantation in Maryland where he met Ruby. Ruby was born in 1615 and she was born in Timbuktu, Mali when she was captured and shipped across the Atlantic to Jamestown, Virginia before being sold to a plantation in Maryland. Esther and Mondesir married and their son John was born in December 1649, on Esther's fifteenth birthday. Their second son Peter was born in March 1653. Mondesir died the following year of a spiked drink.

Thomas' paternal grandfather was James Bartholomew Marsh (the son of Joseph Moses Marsh and Mahala Prickett). James was born in Virginia. Joseph was born in Virginia, the son of John Daniel Marsh and Elizabeth Neptune. Mahala was born in Virginia, the daughter of Job Prickett and Mary Ann Price.

Thomas' paternal grandmother was Cordelia Nicole Holland (the daughter of Jacob Puckett Holland and Mary Jane Tarleton). Cordelia was born in Virginia. Jacob was born in Virginia, the son of Brice Wilson Holland and Mariah Lanham. Mary was born in Virginia, the daughter of Caleb Joseph Tarleton and Margaret Bean.

Thomas' maternal grandfather was Dr. Hans Cornelius Kristiansen (the son of Lars Kristoffer Kristiansen and Elsa Ann Sørensen). Hans was a Norwegian emigrant from Stiklestad, Trøndelag. Lars was the son of Erik Kristiansen and Sigrid Olsdatter. Elsa was the daughter of Niels Sørensen and Anna Pedersdatter.

Thomas' maternal grandmother was Elisabeth Cecile Hansen (the daughter of Odin Leif Hansen and Heidi Monica Thorsen). Elisabeth was a Norwegian emigrant from Tromsø, Troms. Odin was the son of Magnus Hansen and Astrid Nilsen. Heidi was the daughter of Aksel Thorsen and Maren Holm.

Thomas was raised a Roman Catholic. Thomas was a very bright student and excelled in school. Following his graduation from high school, Thomas developed an interest in surgery and earned a full-on scholarship to attend UNC School of Medicine. While in the course, he met a woman named Angela, with whom he fell in love and later married. Angela got a job as a philanthropist and pharmacist. Thomas got a job as surgeon. While on vacation in Venice, Italy, Angela found out that she was pregnant with a son, which was confirmed at S.A.E.M. Provincia Lombardo-Veneta Dell'Ordine Ospedaliero San Giovanni. She gave birth to their son once they returned to America. Angela and Thomas shared a genuine charitable nature, and founded a company called Marsh Industries. Over the years, as the family business grew, Angela and Thomas became billionaires. Both Angela and Thomas were dedicated to their son's upbringing. Angela was well-regarded in South Park's social circles, and was responsible for hosting lavish charity balls at their mansion, which was located in the outskirts of South Park. Thomas became a world-class surgeon, which only expanded their fortune. They later had several other kids named Angelina, Maya, Christina, Mariana.

Angela was once kidnapped by a gang of escaped French convicts, but Thomas reunited with his wife nine months later.

Thomas had always said to Marvin that one day he would want to pass the heir of their fortune to him, and continue to the family business, and although Marvin was conflicted to answer, he said yes. Years later, Thomas died of natural causes. Angela succeeded her husband in death, passing away only nine months later due to pneumonia. Following his parents deaths, Marvin kept his promise in watching over his family's fortune while multitasking with other jobs, which was difficult. Marvin soon married a woman named Isabella, and shared his fortune with her. Marvin and his wife were eventually forced into bankruptcy, owing over $6 billion, causing them to get kicked out of the mansion. This was around the same time their son Jack was born. Over the years, Marvin was able to recover financially.
