The Super Mario Gang Movie is a live action/animated dark fantasy action adventure film based on the television series Super Mario Gang created by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Directed by Joseph Kosinski & screenplay by Zak Penn & Joby Harold and Gary Dauberman. A Co-Production between the United States, Japan, United Kingdom, Canada and China. The actors reprising their roles are Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Eiza González, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen, Fred Armisen, Mckenna Grace, Christian Convery, Charlize Theron and Kate Hudson, along with supporting roles Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Stephanie Hsu, Guz Khan, Roger Craig Smith, Kimiko Glenn, John Mulaney and Mike Myers. With new stars, Mads Mikkelsen, Owen Teague, Awkwafina, Hugh Bonneville and Michelle Yeoh. The film is distributed by Universal Pictures.

Ideal Premise[]

Several Years Later After Bowser's defeat and death, Mario and his friends and family celebrate their victory but something wicked went wrong when an evil force came from hell to send every entity to destroy the whole world. It's up to Mario to get back up again to save the world or else an apocalypse will occur which it already happened. Mario recruits new members for his team Peni Parker, Spider-Ham, Chase, Skye, Shrek and Pinocchio (Guillermo del Toro) to stop the person who's responsible but he finds out the force from hell also broke the multiverse door and they all go on a journey to travel through universes or supernatural realms.

  • Chris Pratt as Mario, the main protagonist of his video games he starred and former video game actor as he starts to retire.
  • Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach Toadstool, a princess from Mushroom Kingdom and the wife of Mario.
  • Charlie Day as Luigi, Mario's timid but brave brother.
  • Eiza González as Princess Daisy, a princess from Sarasaland and the wife of Luigi.
  • Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, a Humanoid Mushroom who Allies Mario on his adventures
  • Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, a Gorilla in Kongo Bongo Island who is great friends with Mario.
  • Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Donkey Kong's grandfather and Mario's former rival and friend.
  • McKenna Grace as Claudia, Mario and Peach's daughter.
    • Grace also portrays Skye, a Cockapoo who serves as an aviator pup for the PAW Patrol, Grace reprises the role from "PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie".
  • Christian Convery as Michael, Mario and Peach's son who has Autism.
    • Convery also portrays Chase, a German Shepherd who serves as a police officer pup for the PAW Patrol, Convery reprise the role from "PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie".
  • Greg Cipes as Cappy, Mario's Anthropomorphic Cap.
  • Kari Wahlgren as Yoshi, a dinosaur like creature.
  • Charlize Theron as Princess Rosalina, a princess from the galaxy.
  • Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Officer Lor Landly, a police officer who joins the Super Mario Gang to stop the apocalypse.
  • Kate Hudson as Mayor Pauline, Mario's ex-girlfriend and friend.
  • Monica Bellucci as Mario & Luigi's mother.
  • Mads Mikkelsen as an unnamed villain from hell who takes over the world. His character is inspired by Mr. Dark from "Something Wicked This Way Comes" and Apocalypse from "X-Men: Apocalypse".
  • Roger Craig Smith as Sonic the Hedgehog, the main protagonist of the video game franchise "Sonic the Hedgehog" and is married to Amy Rose and has four kids.
  • Kimiko Glenn as Peni Parker/SP//dr, an anime version of Spider-Man but with a robot in "Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.
    • Glenn also portrays Baby Shark.
  • John Mulaney as Spider-Ham, an Anthropomorphic Pig version of Spider-Man in "Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.
  • Mike Myers as Shrek, an ogre from the film franchise "Shrek".
  • Wagner Moura as Death, a black hooded wolf from "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" who is initially presumed to be a bounty hunter before revealing his true identity, although its revealed later in the film that he's actually death itself in the real world.
  • Stephanie Hsu as Loretta Ng, a Biologist who allies with the Mario Bros.
  • Guz Khan as Pudge, a Super Mario fan and Mario's old friend who later joins the Mario Gang to save the world.
  • Gregory Mann as Pinocchio (del Toro), a version of Pinocchio from the Golden Globe Award winning film "Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio" and Peni's love interest.
  • Awkwafina as Bubbly, a fun little Anthropomorphic water girl who helps Mario and his friends, Poseidon and Amphitrite created her with their powers after Triton's disappearance.
  • Hugh Bonneville as Poseidon, God of the sea from the Greek Mythology and Bubbly's father.
  • Michelle Yeoh as Amphitrite, Goddess of the sea from the greek mythology and Bubbly's mother.
    • Yeoh also portrays Evelyn Quan Wong, a dissatisfied and overwhelmed laundromat owner from the critical acclaim A24 movie "Everything Everywhere All at Once".
  • Danny Trejo as Frogger, a Frog from the game "Frogger".
  • Owen Teague as James Waternoose/Triton, Poseidon's corrupted son, Bubbly's brother and Claudia's love interest.
  • Dan Fogler as Mario (TV Show), a variant of Mario from "Super Mario Bros. Super Show" and "Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3". Fogler replaces Lou Albano and Walker Boone since they both died.
  • Ben Schwartz as Sonic the Hedgehog (Movie), a variant of Sonic from "Sonic the Hedgehog 2020" and "Sonic the Hedgehog 2".
  • Jaleel White as Sonic the Hedgehog (TV Show), a variant of Sonic from "SatAM's Sonic", "The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" and "Sonic Undergrond".
  • John Leguizamo as Live-action Luigi, a variant of Luigi from "Super Mario Bros. 1993" who going under depression over the loss of his brother Mario and decides to join Luigi with his brother and his gang on one condition.
  • Anthony Ramos as Evil Mario, an evil variant of Mario who tempts the original Mario to join with him.

Additionally, The Cyclops from "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad" will appear at a fight with Mario and Luigi, KISS will also appear at a concert playing "I Was Made for Lovin’ You" while Mario and Luigi fights the Cyclops and Jeffrey Katzenberg will portray the DreamWorks Moon Child, the magical mascot behind the company, Katzenberg will reprise the role from the openings of "Bee Movie", "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa" and "Monsters Vs. Aliens". Kim Roberts will portray Mayor Goodway, the Mayor of Adventure Bay. Cameron Diaz (through archival footage), Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas reprising their roles as Princess Fiona, Donkey and Puss in Boots.

For Other versions of the characters, Kevin Afghani portrays as Paper Mario, a paper variant of Mario in the "Paper Mario" series and also Mario's video game voice, Tōru Furuya portrays Anime Mario, an anime variant of Mario who save Princess Peach and finds out she's already betrothed in "Super Mario Bros.: The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach!". Classic Sonic also appears in the movie from "Sonic Generations" and "the 1990s video games". Jun'ichi Kanemaru portrays Anime Sonic, an anime variant of Sonic from "Sonic X", Devon Mack portrays Prime Sonic, a variant of Sonic who can travel universes from "Sonic Prime". Dylan O'Brien and Florence Pugh portrays an older Chase and Skye in the future. An alternative variant of Fiona from "Shrek Forever After" will also appear.

Ideal Scenes[]

  • Pinocchio from the del Toro movie talks to Peni Parker after saddened by her death of her family, her father, her aunt and her uncle. Pinocchio has the same idea with his family after living for a long time, the two started getting close.
  • After Poseidon's son Triton tries to kill Peni Parker, Spider-Ham, Skye and Chase by using his powers forming a lightning like fireball, Pinocchio (del Toro} blocks the way and sacrifices his life while Triton accidently gets cremated by his fireball. Peni starts to cry after Pinocchio was about to die, Pinocchio admits his love for Peni and says that he never felt love before in his life meaning "Romantic Love" and Peni admits he made her very happy and haven't felt that since her father, uncle ben and her aunt may died years ago. Pinocchio thanks her for letting him experiencing love while he dies slowly in Peni's arms leading her to cry hysterically while the rest of the characters watch as they cry.
  • The Movie will involve the characters' musical talents such as Mario and Sonic using their guitars. Mario has a Gibson SG which in one scene he plays AC/DC which is a Homage to Angus Young playing the SG for the band and Sonic has a Gibson Explorer while he plays Metallica which is another Homage.
  • In a random dark realm, Skye is running away from Slender Man-like monsters and is hiding in an orb crying while Chase comes in and fights the monster. Skye also reveals that was her biggest fear was monsters.
  • Mads Mikkelsen's character asks Skye if she could join him she refuses at first but after all the trauma she accepted. Mads Mikkelsen and his minions all show up to fight the Super Mario Gang and Skye also appears leaving everyone in shock and saddened especially Chase, Skye is now called "Psycho-Skye".

Trivia[]

  • Skye reveals that she's in fact possesses psychic abilities even before on set of PAW Patrol and PAW Patrol: The Movie. The Idea is inspired by characters from Stephen King. But this will lead her to become a villain
  • The film is said to be heavily inspired by The Shining, It, Nope, Cloverfield, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Stranger Things Season 4
