Smurfs: Back in Action is a 2026 American 3D computer-animated adventure comedy film based on The Smurfs comics by Peyo. Produced by Columbia Pictures, Sony Pictures Animation, Kerner Entertainment Company, and Village Roadshow Pictures, the film is directed by Kelly Asbury and written by Rhett Reese and Pamela Ribon. A sequel to Smurfs: The Lost Village (2017), the film features the reprised roles of Demi Lovato, Mandy Patinkin, Jack McBrayer, Rainn Wilson, Joe Manganiello, and Danny Pudi, with the new voices of Nathan Lane, Billy Crystal, Edie McClurg, and Josh Gad. In the film, the Smurfs Papa, Clumsy, Smurfette, Brainy, and Hefty visit a village that formerly housed the evil wizard Gargamel, who is planning to destroy Smurf Village within 24 hours. The film opened up on April 11, 2026, by Sony Pictures Releasing, to both mixed reviews and a box-office success. It is also the final Smurfs film to be made.
Synopsis[]
Following the uniting of Smurf Village and Smurfy Grove in the first film, the Smurfs are living in harmony and peace. But that is quickly halted when the evil wizard Gargamel announces that he is planning to destroy Smurf Village within 24 hours. In order to avoid a fate so serious, Smurfs Papa, Clumsy, Smurfette, Brainy, and Hefty will visit an old village that formerly housed Gargamel so they can learn how to stop him.
