The plot follows of the original 1998 DreamWorks film
The Princess of Egypt may have been screened during a Fourth of July parade and theatrically. Accompanied with it is a short silent film called "The Revenge of the Marigolds", which is the idea about what if the Marigolds had a Plan B to get back at Antonio and his two brothers, Stephen and Travis, in 2002's "Antonio and the Great Escape". Jeffrey Katzenberg originally wanted it in a true way how it was done in the silent era, where it was black and white and only music playing. But they decided to keep it in color, have sound effects, and have Tulio and Miguel from 2000's "The Road to El Dorado" narrating in the final version. However, they included the black and white version as a DVD feature.
The Princess of Egypt would've been released to DVD, Blu-Ray and Digital Download December 17, 2015; a day before both Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip came to theaters.
