The Playdate House is a long-running British preschool series that was aired on the channel on January 14, 1989 and produced by KidsCo Productions, HIT Communications/HIT Communications PLC/HIT Entertainment PLC/HIT Entertainment, Puppetoon Inc. (The Adventures of Jakey Jakey, Petey, Luli, Xan-Xan, Mimi, Yoyo, Hallie, Stuffy, Dolly and Flip), BBC Children's International (season 4-8), Hasbro Entertainment (season 17-onwards), Brosh Quality Productions (season 19-onwards), Handle & Spout Limited (season 19-23), Top TV Productions/Dot to Dot Productions (season 13-onwards) and The Foundation and Zodiak Kids (season 13-onwards) in association with Ragdoll Productions and DHX Media (season 23-onwards) for KidsCo, Children's BBC/CBBC/CBeebies and Mini KidsCo/Ready, Set Learn!/JuniorCo/Hop!, inspired by Sesame Street, Pinwheel, Play School and other preschool shows that features short-form cartoons, sketches and original live-action and cartoons, it is hosted by various presenters and child presenters and 10 puppet friends named Jakey Jakey, Petey, Luli, Xan-Xan, Mimi, Yoyo, Hallie, Stuffy, Dolly and Flip.

While the show airs on KidsCo and Hop! with various dubs, the show got international adaptations on various preschool blocks and channels around the world.

It is also the first preschool series to be broadcasted on various preschool channels and blocks and only long-length show to be broadcast on BabyTV.

Production[]

In 1982, Anne Wood announced to produce a preschool show that "inspires Sesame Street, Pinwheel and Play School".

In 1984, Wood founded Ragdoll Productions and decided to come up with The Playdate House and this will the first Ragdoll production ever, originally it was going to be pitch for TVS and Yorkshire Television, but it was pitched to KidsCo instead.

Recordings of the show were taped from August-September 1988 and it was successful announced by KidsCo in December 1988.

Between 1990-present, the show got international adaptations for various preschool channels and blocks around the world.
