The House of the Living Dead is a fan-made (mod) survival horror video game that combine the original first Resident Evil gameplay, using elements from the first The House of the Dead game such as characters, enemies, items, and settings.
Gameplay[]
The player is given the option of choosing which of the two character they play as: Thomas Rogan or Sophie Richards, each with their own unique differential abilities.

Playable characters[]
- Thomas Rogan - The male protagonists of the game. Rogan is a top agent of the AMS government agency. He is much stronger and faster than Sophie, making him more resistant to enemy attacks and giving him more options to avoid them. However, to compensate for his strength, his scenario is more challenging, especially for inexperienced players. He faces more enemies compared to Sophie, and the enemies in his scenario also have more health than in Sophie's. Rogan can only carry six items and starts with only his personal hand Hatchet. To make things worse, he needs small keys to unlock places where Sophie can simply use her lockpick. Rogan's supporting character is Linda. While she will not rescue him as much as G would for Sophie, she can heal all of Rogan's wounds at certain stages of the game, depending on Rogan's actions. Rogan also finds the Incendiary Gun, a weapon exclusive and a extra item pack to carry more items in his scenario.
- Sophie Richards - The female protagonists of the game. Sophie is Rogan's girlfriend and a researcher for the DBR Corporation who knows her way around Curien's mansion. Her scenario is the simpler of the two, as she has a higher carrying capacity up to eight items and has a lockpick that serves as a substitute for the small keys in Rogan's scenario. Sophie's supporting character is G. He wields a powerful AMS Magnum Pistol just like Rogan and is more helpful than Rogan's Linda, as he eliminates the need for the broken shotgun and assists in fighting several of the bosses. Sophie also gets to use a grenade launcher, a weapon exclusive to her scenario capable of firing several types of rounds. However, these advantages are offset by the fact that she is more vulnerable to enemy attacks than Rogan due to her lower health and is less likely to escape from them since she is slower.
