The Great Chase is one of two short films (the other being Troll Trouble) released for the DVD, Blu-Ray, 4K UHD, and digital formats of the 2022 film Hilda and the Lost Ring on August 2, 2022. The short is about Hilda, Alfur, and Twig chasing after a crow for stealing some of Alfur's paperwork.
Synopsis[]
"When a hyper crow steals Alfur's paperwork, Hilda and the gang will need to get it back before it becomes nothing but atoms!"
Plot[]
Taking place a day before the events of Hilda and the Lost Ring, at the port, as Hilda, Twig, and Alfur are hanging out; Alfur is writing a 2-page message to send to the other elves another long report of Trolberg. As he finishes writing, he shows the letter to Hilda, who compliments it. But as soon as they walk out, a crow unknowingly takes Alfur's paperwork, prompting the three to chase after it. Around midway through the chase, because of how fast the crow is flying, with no other options, Hilda then remembers to jump onto an incoming Woff. The Woff flies them straight to a nearby watermill.
As they arrive at the watermill, the crow from before lands at the mill. Hilda and Alfur attempt to get the crow in order to retrieve the paper. The crow attacks them as well. However, because of the crow's distinct abilities, the two are unable to get it regularly. That is until Twig attacks the crow from behind, taking it down. Hilda uses a rope attached from a loose ceiling board to catch the paperwork. She manages to grab the papers from the crow, landing back onto the balcony of the mill, giving them back to Alfur. The ceiling board, however, swings and causes the papers to fly out of Alfur's hands. It lands into the lake.
