Feral Tales: The Misadventures of the Pets is a platform video game developed by and published by Interplay Entertainment, originally released for the NES, Super NES, Genesis, and Game Boy originally released in 1994 and later for PC in 1995, featuring five anthropomorphic animals. It is based on the film of the same name, and follows its plot. The game was followed by a sequel based on the first film, called The Feral Tales Movie.

The game was also developed for the Atari Lynx, Game Gear, 3DO, and Atari Jaguar, but they were never commercially released.

Gameplay[]

Feral Tales: The Misadventures of the Pets is a side-scrolling platform game based on animated film and television series of the same name. There are eight stages in this game. The player controls five animal protagonists; Danny the dog, Max the cat, Kyle the bird, Hector the lizard, and Gill the toadfish whose goal is to transform themselves to become the Mighty Beasts of Elements. The game is played by running around the level and attacking the Larry McKruel Jr. and the Assistants. Danny transforms himself to become the Were-Dog when cursed at night.

Plot[]

A mutt (a mix of a dog) named Danny, who escapes from Larry’s house as a puppy in San Francisco after his father is killed. In the process of telling the story, the film highlights the cruelty of performing vivisection and animal research for its own sake. He lost in San Francisco finding his young owner, Bobby Mulgrew. He took him to the Mulgrew family house living with the Mulgrew family, and brought him a kitten as his best friend, Max. Two years later, Danny and Mike both grew up fast, then Bobby and his family brought new pets as Danny’s new friends. The next day, the Mulgrew family leaves these pets alone and moves to Los Angeles. It centers on a group of pets in San Francisco who all take part in a therapy group, led by Danny whose owner is a therapist and thus has rubbed off on him. Told from the perspective of the animals, each one having various issues that usually stem from their owners, the show details the various adventures they go on to deal with their problems.

  • Treasure Box: Treasure box with ancient riches inside. 1000 points.

  • Mushroom: Grows in humid places. 1000 points.
  • Fruit mix: Many fruits in bunches. 500 points.
  • Nuts: Contains peanuts, walnuts, hazelnuts, or almonds. 300 points.
  • Bread: Daily bread found anywhere, Kyle loves these. 500 points.
  • Pasta: Contains tomato sauce and meatballs made in Italy. 300 points.
  • Canned Beans: Rations. No food, no life! 1000 points.
  • Fast Food: Fatty food that cause the player to become morbidly obese when eating them. 100, 300, or 500 points, contains burgers, French fries, pizza, hot dogs, sandwiches, fried chickens, tacos, burritos, nachos, and onion rings.

  • Yarn: Cats love these. 1000 points. If collected using Max, the player gets 5000 points for that.
  • Bone: Dogs love these. 5000 points. If collected using Danny, the player gets 10000 points for that.
  • Doll: A little doll. 5000 points.
  • Teddy Bear: Kids love these. 5000 points.
  • Flower: They're pretty common around these parts. 100, 300, or 500 points.
  • Keys: Maybe it can open a treasure chest. 1000 points.
  • Magic Lamp: A Genie will appear after five smokes, then transform into a pile of falling coins. 10 points if grabbed too early as the lamp, 61430 points if all the coins are collected.
  • Pet Collar: Someone lost it while running away from the Rebels. 100 points.

Feral Tale: The Misadventures of the Pets was developed and published by Interplay Entertainment. The game was rated E for everyone by the Entertainment Software Rating Board as a reviewer for Entertainment Weekly wrote.
