Development and creation[]
Pixar Animation Studios and The Incredibles and Incredibles 2 director Brad Bird were pitched an idea for a subsequent television series based on the franchise that would follow the end of Incredibles 2 with the Supers resuming crime fighting while delving into the domestic lifestyle of the Parrs. The series takes inspiration from Adventures of Superman and the 1967 animated Spider-Man series for the superhero side, while the side of Parrs' daily life takes inspiration from sitcoms like I Love Lucy and The Brady Bunch. Bird was brought on as showrunner, as well as executive producer.
Animation[]
Like the film series and short films that relied computer animation, the series was animated by Icon Creative Studio. Lou Romano serves as animation director, supervising the animation and movements for the characters in the series. The opening sequence was animated in 2D by Toon City, with the opening paying homage to animated openings to live-action series such as I Dream of Jeannie and the 1966 Batman series.
Writing[]
Besides serving as showrunner and executive producer of the series, Bird would write and direct a good portion of the episodes, primarily with writing storylines on the Parrs and their domestic life, while additional episodes were written by Mark Andrews, Dave Filoni, Charlie Bean, and Kent Osborne.
Casting[]
Most characters' voice actors/actresses that were not able to be available to reprise their roles, most of the soundalikes in other Incredibles media reprise the characters; Jeff Bergman and John Eric Bentley previously voiced Mr. Incredible and Frozone from Lego The Incredibles, E. G. Daily previously voiced Elastigirl from the video game adaptation of the first film, and Banks Pierce as Dash from Lego Pixar: Bricktoons. Whilst some characters are reprised by their voice actors/actresses; Sarah Vowell as Violet, Sophia Bush as Voyd, Phil LaMarr as both Krushauer and He-Lectrix, Deirdre Warin as Brick, Paul Eiding as Reflux, D. J. Jennings as Screech, Jonathan Banks as Rick Dicker, Bob Odenkirk as Winston Deavor, and franchise creator Brad Bird as Edna Mode.
Music[]
John Paesano was hired as composer for the series. Paesano used musical cues from the score both films composed by Michael Giacchino while the episodes focused on the Parrs' domestic life were inspired by The Honeymooners and The Dick Van Dyke Show. Paesano also composed the theme music for the opening sequence, which is a rendition of Mr. Incredible's in-universe theme song "Pow! Pow! Pow!" from Incredibles 2.
