Character Ideas

Kirby (Game Boy/NES)

  • No Power-Ups: Can inhale blocks & enemies by holding the "action" button and then shoot them as a star or swallow them without any effect.
  • Mushroom: Can fly around by pressing the "up" button rapidly while in the air. Pressing the "action" button while crouching allows Kirby to slide.
  • Fire Flower: Kirby can now copy enemies' ability by swallowing them when they're inhaled. Many of Copy Abilities depending on enemies/items are listed below:
    • Goomba - Nothing
    • Koopa Troopa - Wheel
    • Paratroopa - Parasol
    • Piranha Plant - Nothing
    • Cheep-Cheep - Nothing
    • Blooper - Nothing
    • Bullet Bill - Nothing
    • Hammer Bro - Hammer
    • Lakitu - U.F.O.

  • No Power-Ups: Pressing "X" or "C" allows Pikachu to attack enemies with Iron Tail.
  • Mushroom: Can now use Thunderbolt by pressing the "special" button, able to shoot thunder projectiles at enemies.
  • Fire Flower: Pikachu has balloons on his back (like in Pokemon Yellow's intro), allowing him to fly in the air like Sophia the 3rd's hover module by holding the "jump" button. His attacks even become more stronger.

Pit (NES)

  • No Power-Ups: Can shoot arrows by pressing the "action" button. He can aim upwards with his bow and move around while crouching.
  • Mushroom: Has Sacred Bow, allowing Pit to shoot arrows all the way across the screen. Pressing the "special" button allows him to smash enemies and blocks with a Mallet when close to them.
  • Fire Flower: Has Fire Arrow which causes a fireball to encircle Pit's arrows, dealing more damage than usual. Pit also has a limited flight by using Wings of Pegasus when you press the "jump" button repeatedly similar to Sophia the 3rd's.
  • Starman: Pit wears now an armor of Three Sacred Treasures. Has Protective Crystal which encircles around him, defeating enemies on-contact. His Wings of Pegasus is now unlimited, allowing Pit to fly around anytime. His arrows become into Arrow of Light which is more powerful. He also has Mirror Shield which will deflect Bowser's fireballs and hammers.

Thomas (Kung-Fu)

Donkey/Diddy Kong (SNES)

  • No Power-Ups: You start as Donkey Kong. He can roll forward to attack enemies by pressing the "action" button while moving. He can also jump on enemies to stomp them.
  • Mushroom: Diddy Kong appears alongside DK. He is more faster than Donkey Kong but has similar moves as he has. If you get hit as DK, you can play as Diddy instead (vice-versa). Both can now throw barrels by pressing the "action" button when standing.
  • Fire Flower: Can release an Animal Friend to help DK/Diddy for one level. An animal depends on the level:
    • Rambi (Overworld/Castle) - Is able to ram enemies with his horn.
    • Enguarde (Underwater) - Can defeat enemies by using his sharp bill.
    • Squawks (Underworld) - Carries a lamp which helps DK/Diddy see hidden enemies, blocks, etc.
    • Expresso (Platforms) - Is more faster and can temporarily glide through the air.
    • Winky (Bridge) - Can defeat enemies by jumping on them. Can also jump very high.

Little Mac (Various)

  • No Power-Ups: Little Mac begins in his Minor Circuit palette. He can punch enemies with "X" and "C" buttons. He can even do that while ducking and jumping.
  • Mushroom: Little Mac's palette changes to his Major Circuit one. His punches can do more damage.
  • Fire Flower: Little Mac's palette changes to his World Circuit one. His punches does even more damage. He can get stars by punching 5 or more enemies in order to perform a Star Punch with the "action" button.

Bomberman (Various)

  • No Power-Ups: Bomberman can drop a bomb by pressing the "action" button which explodes after few seconds in a cross pattern with radius of 1 block.
  • Mushroom: Can now place 2 bombs once, radius of 2 blocks. He can even kick bombs away when close to them and detonate them by holding the "action" button.
  • Fire Flower: Can place 3 bombs now, radius of 3 blocks. This time, he runs faster than usual (Skate).

Master Higgins (Adventure Island)

  • No Power-Ups: Can attack enemies by stomping on them and throwing axes at them with the "action" button.
  • Mushroom: Now can throw boomerangs with the "special" button which return back to Master Higgins. Axes also do more damage and can be thrown twice in a row.
  • Fire Flower: You can now ride on one of four dinosaurs at random. Each has their own abilities:
    • Magma: Cannot be damaged by fire and can shoot fireballs at enemies with the "action" button.
    • Taylor: Can whip short-ranged electric blasts from his tail with the "action" button.
    • Classie: Can swim faster and control better in the underwater stages.
    • Don-Don: Can fly in the air by repeatedly pressing or holding the "jump" button. Can drop rocks at enemies from above with the "action" button.

Pac-Man (Arcade)

  • No Power-Ups: Can stomp enemies by jumping on them like Mario. Can move faster by holding the "X" button.
  • Mushroom: Is now able to grab shells in his mouth and spit them back by holding the "action" button while close to them.
  • Fire Flower: Is more larger and can now fire a tractor beam to stun enemies by pressing the "action" button.

Bub/Bob (Bubble Bobble)

  • No Power-Ups: Can shoot bubbles by pressing the "action" button. Enemies will get trapped if they hit the bubble, and Bub can kill them by popping them (except Bowser who needs more bubbles and can't be trapped). He is also able to jump on a top of the bubble. Holding the button allows him to inflate and float in the air until released (in Bubble Bobble Part 2).
  • Mushroom: Increases the bubble's range and damage. It takes even longer before an enemy frees from the bubble. Pressing the "special" button allows Bub to shoot a rainbow in-front of him, able to kill enemies when it forms/falls and collect any items hit by it. He can even walk or jump onto a rainbow and use it as a platform. He can even run faster now. Holding the "special" button lets Bub pull out a parasol which he can use to stun enemies, grab/throw them, block and capture power-ups.
  • Fire Flower: Bub can collect a random Elemental Bubble from blocks and shoot them instead of normal bubbles. He can now also shoot up to three rainbows in a row. There's three of them like those below:
    • Lightning Bubble: When popped, a lightning bolt will shoot out in the opposite direction you are facing. If it makes contact with an enemy, they will instantly die.
    • Water Bubble: When popped, a jet of water will slide down through the level unless it falls down a pit. If it makes contact with an enemy, they will die instantly.
    • Fire Bubble: When popped, it will cause a flame to fall downwards until it makes contact with an floor. It will then spread, and kill anyone who touches it. Becomes permanent while using Starman.

Ryu/Ken (Various)

  • No Power-Ups: Can perform a Tatsumaki Senpukyaku at the enemies by pressing "down, left" and "action" buttons, also had a unique health bar.
  • Mushroom: Has the Shoryuken, which can performed by pressing "right, down, right" and "action" buttons.
  • Fire Flower: Becomes Ken Masters and can perform a Hadouken at enemies by pressing "down, right" and "action" buttons.
  • Ice Flower: He can perform a Hadouken at enemies, though this time it freezes enemies.

Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis)

  • No Power-Ups: Can stomp on enemies, can roll by pressing the "down arrow" button while running on the ground.
  • Mushroom: Has Shield and can use Spin Dash by crouching and use the "action" button to charge it.
  • Fire Flower: Sonic turns into Super Sonic and has Flame Shield, allowing him to dash mid-air, walk on lava, fire doesn't damage him and is more faster.
  • Ice Flower: Sonic turns into Hyper Sonic and has Aqua Shield, allowing him to bounce on the ground, swim faster on underwater and deflect projectiles. Bouncing on the enemy will freeze them (for it being a Ice Flower power-up) unlike in the original Genesis games.

Rash/Zitz (NES)

  • No Power-Ups: Press the "attack" button to do a regular punch. Keep pressing it for a punching combo. Hold "down" and "attack" to do an uppercut. While moving, double-press left or right to dash, and press "attack" while dashing to do a headbutt. Press the "special" button to use Rash's tongue to grab items and coins. When he gets ready to launch his tongue, aim it with arrow keys.
  • Mushroom: Two of Rash's attacks are upgraded. He can now do a super uppercut, and can do a huge kick by pressing "attack" while moving when not dashing.
  • Fire Flower: Rash's attacks are now more powerful. The punch combo he begins with now just stars with the big enlarged fist punch. The little headbutt Rash started with is now a huge ram with horns on his head.

Billy/Jimmy Lee (NES)

  • No Power-Ups: Can attack enemies by punching and kicking with "X" and "C" buttons respectively.
  • Mushroom: Punches and kicks does more damage. Can perform a powerful jump kick by pressing the "C" button in mid-air.
  • Fire Flower: By pressing the "special" button close to an enemy, Billy/Jimmy can grab and attack/throw them while doing so. You also get a pipe/wooden plank as a weapon for maximum damage of your punch/kick attacks.

Morrigan (Saturn/PlayStation)

  • No Power-Ups: Can perform a Shell Kick while running forward and pressing the "action" button during that.
  • Mushroom: Has the Shadow Blade which will launch enemies into the air.
  • Fire Flower: She can perform a Soul Fist and Darkness Illusion at enemies. This would work good against Bowser in the boss battle.
  • Ice Flower: She can perform a Soul Eraser to fire a large beam instead of Soul Fist and Vector Drain which drains the enemy's life.

Scorpion/Sub-Zero (Various)

  • No Power-Ups: Scorpion has a unique health system which depletes when he got hit by an enemy. He can punch and kick by pressing "X" and "C" buttons repeatedly.
  • Mushroom: Restores Scorpion's health a bit and allows him to perform Spear which he uses to drag enemies in by pressing the "action" button. Touching a 1-Up Mushroom restores half of Scorpion's health.
  • Fire Flower: Restores more of Scorpion's health than Mushroom and allows Scorpion to perform his "Toasty!" move to damage enemies and break blocks by holding the "action" button.
  • Ice Flower: Scorpion turns into Sub-Zero, able to freeze enemies by using Ice Ball which replaces Spear and can slide across the ground with a ice trial by pressing the "action" button while dashing forward. His "Toasty!" also changes into a ice beam which also freezes blocks, allowing Sub-Zero to break them.

  • Fire Flower: Attacks become more powerful and a shuriken is replaced with a boomerang which comes back to Leonardo and reaches more farther.

Darkwing Duck (NES)

  • No Power-Ups: Darkwing can shoot an arrow that can be used to climb to higher places or damage enemies by pressing the "action" button. With that button and "up" makes him shoot lightning gas which shoots two bolts diagonally. Pressing "action" and "down" buttons shoot heavy gas, which falls to the ground and causes a shockwave on contact.
  • Mushroom: Increases Darkwing's gun power and gains the ability to grab onto the bottoms of projectiles and ceilings. If hanging onto a one-block wide platform or ceiling, he can jump on top of it. He can now pull up his cape to block certain projectiles like hammers by pressing the "up" button.
  • Fire Flower: Turns red, maxing out his gun power and his cape will now block Bowser's flames.

Scrooge McDuck (DuckTales)

  • No Power-Ups: Can stomp on enemies like Mario.
  • Mushroom: Can swing his cane to whack enemies and launch blocks. If the "action" button is held when an enemy is hit, Scrooge will pull back on the enemy and fling himself for a short distance across the stage and is invincible during this time, also breaking blocks.
  • Fire Flower: Scrooge can now use his Cane Jump move where he uses his cane like a pogo stick. Hold the "action" button in the air to perform the move, jumping on enemies and blocks will damage and break them.

Sparkster (Rocket Knight Adventures)

  • No Power-Ups: Can swipe his sword to shoot boomerang-shaped projectiles by pressing the "action" button in order to attack enemies. The attack deals more damage when close to an enemy.
  • Mushroom: Holding the "action" button allows Sparkster to charge his jetpack. Releasing it while standing will make him perform his buzzsaw (Burst Vortex) attack. Releasing it while pressing arrow keys allows him to fly (Rocket Burst) at the pressed direction, able to bounce off walls and break through blocks.
  • Fire Flower: Transforms into Gold Sparkster and his attacks become more stronger and his jetpack charges faster. Also, his Rocket Burst attack has a corkscrew spin attack (Burst Drill) which does more damage than regular Rocket Burst.

Spider-Man (Various)

  • No Power-Ups: Can punch/kick enemies by pressing the "X" button. This is different when compared to Superman, Scorpion/Sub-Zero and Captain America. He can dive-kick into the ground by pressing the "down" and "X" buttons while in the air.
  • Mushroom: Can shoot web at enemies by pressing the "action" button, defeating them with few shots. Holding the "action" button allows him to web swing around for a short period of time.
  • Fire Flower: Turns into Symbiote Spider-Man. Attacks become more stronger, able to break blocks and web lines are more longer. His web swing also takes more longer to end.

Captain America

  • No Power-Ups: Can punch enemies by pressing "X" and "C" buttons repeatedly to combo them. He can even thrust his shield downwards while in the air to stomp enemies.
  • Mushroom: Can throw his shield by pressing the "action" button, this can be used to attack enemies far away at distance and break blocks like Simon Belmont's Cross. He can also hang on blocks and walls same as Ryu Hayabusa, but can't climb up and down.
  • Fire Flower: Cap's shield moves can bounce projectiles back at the enemy. He can even charge forward and bash his shield at enemies by pressing the "move" buttons twice and the "action" button once. He can use his shield to float on lava like a makeshift boat without taking damage.

Superman (Various)

  • No Power-Ups: Begins as Clark Kent, able to punch and kick enemies by pressing "X" and "C" buttons.
  • Mushroom: Becomes into Superman and can break blocks by punching them. Even becomes more faster and can jump very high.
  • Fire Flower: Can shoot a heat vision from his eyes by holding the "action" button and fly around by holding the same button while in the air. Also, his attacks become more stronger than usual.
  • Ice Flower: Instead of his heat vision power, Superman has a freeze breath instead by holding the "action" button which will freeze enemies and blocks, allowing him to break them with ease.

Sora/Riku (GBA; Appearing in his KHII attire)

  • No Power-Ups: Can use his Kingdom Key to attack enemies by pressing the "X" button. Pressing this button allows Sora/Riku to make combos. He also had a unique health bar, which depletes when he got attacked.
  • Mushroom: Can now use magic by pressing the "action" button.
  • Fire Flower: Is now able to summon Disney characters to help them in combat.

  • No Power-Ups: Can punch enemies and blocks by pressing the "X" button. You can press the same button while in the air for a kick attack. Batman has a wall jump ability by pressing the "jump" button when you is on the side of a block.
  • Mushroom: Can throw batarangs by pressing the "action" button same how Ryu Hayabusa does with his shurikens.
  • Fire Flower: Can now use a grapple gun to latch onto blocks or enemies by holding the "action" button and aimed with arrow keys. Holding the "jump" button while in the air allows you to glide. Even your punches are powerful enough to break blocks. Your batarang is now set in flames for more damage.

Goku (Various)

  • No Power-Ups: Can punch and kick enemies by pressing "X" and "C" buttons repeatedly for combos. He also has a unique Health Bar system.
  • Mushroom: Is now able to shoot ki blasts by pressing the "action" button. Holding the same button allows him to shoot Kamehameha to break blocks and defeat enemies (except Bowser unless you has Fire Flower).
  • Fire Flower: You transform into Super Saiyan. Pressing the "action" button shoots a small, but powerful Spirit Bomb instead of Ki blasts.

Strider Hiryu (Genesis)

  • No Power-Ups: Can slash enemies with Cypher by pressing the "X" button. He can even perform a cartwheel jump when you push arrow keys while pressing the "jump" button.
  • Mushroom: Strider can now latch onto platforms and climb across walls & ceilings using a metallic hook by pressing the "action" button. He can slide through certain obstacles and enemies by pressing the "jump" button when crouching.
  • Fire Flower: Strider's attack range is extended and increased via shadow images of himself into powerful. He can now summon "Options" that help him fight enemies by holding the "action" button, choosing with arrow keys and then releasing the button to summon. These consist of up to 2 mushroom-like droids that surround around Strider (Option A), a saber-toothed robo-tiger that dashes forward (Option B) and a robot hawk which bombards enemies in the air (Option C).

Sir Arthur (Various)

  • No Power-Ups: Arthur is on his boxers. He can throw different weapons by pressing the "action" button which he can collect from blocks or after defeating enemies. He can even aim them up or down with arrow keys.
    • Lance: Throws a lance which goes straight forward when hurled. When powered up, it becomes stronger and leaves behind a trail of flames.
    • Dagger: Flies straight forward at a fast speed. When powered up, it's strength is improved as more better.
    • Torch: When it hits a surface, it makes three small flames in a row. He can throw up to 2 torches forward and can't throw more until the flames extinguish. When powered up, it now throws spinning flames instead and the flames from the ground are higher and move further.
    • Axe: Is thrown in an arc as it is able to penetrate through objects, but it cannot be thrown consistently. When powered up, it's power is improved.
    • Crossbow: Shoots 2 arrows in an upward-diagonal direction, which makes it a preferred weapon when fighting flying enemies, such as Lakitu. When powered up, it fires 3 flaming arrows that follow enemies.
    • Scythe: When a scythe touches the ground, it travels along it though only one can be present at a time. When powered up, it's power is increased.
    • Tri-Blade: When thrown, it goes above Arthur and moves in a "L" shape before returning to him. When powered up, it is slightly faster and easier to connect.
    • Goddess' Bracelet: A powerful weapon which shoots short-ranged energy blasts that is able to defeat Bowser in few shots.
  • Mushroom: Arthur begins the game with this phase. He has a silver armor that protects him from one hit. His weapons are becoming less stronger.
  • Fire Flower: Arthur now wears a golden armor which powers up his weapons. He can now perform powerful magic attacks by pressing the "special" button which depends on the weapon.
    • Thunder Magic (Lance): Three lightning bolts are fired left, up and right from Arthur's position and pierce through solid objects and enemies.
    • Fire Dragon Magic (Dagger): Summons a dragon of flames that goes around the screen counter-clockwise.
    • Shield Magic (Torch): Three energy orbs temporarily surround Arthur to protect him, and they harm enemies on-contact.
    • Lightning Magic (Axe): Releases many energy beams in several directions around Arthur.
    • Seek Magic (Crossbow): This magic can reveal all hidden items/blocks near Arthur's position.
    • Tornado Magic (Scythe): Two tornadoes comes out from Arthur's position and goes across the whole screen.

Holding the button allows Rayman to charge his Telescopic Fist to make it reach longer and more powerful. Also, he can hover with his helicopter hair by holding the "up" arrow while in the air.
  • Fire Flower: Has Speed Fist which makes the Telescopic Fist faster at charging and Golden FIst which makes the Telescopic Fist stronger that would defeat weak enemies in 1 hit (except Bowser who takes 3 hits from Golden Fist).

Earthworm Jim (SNES)

  • No Power-Ups: Jim begins without his suit, being only on his worm body. He can stomp enemies and bounce extra high when he jumps multiple times in row or when you hold the "jump" button.
  • Mushroom: Jim appears now in his Super Suit. He can defeat enemies and break blocks by whipping his head by pressing the "action" button with the aimed direction through arrow keys. When Jim is in the air, hold the "jump" button to spin his head like a helicopter to make him glide across gaps.
  • Fire Flower: Jim has access to use his Plasma Blaster by holding the "action" button to shoot plasma bolts around him. You can aim around by moving arrow keys in 8 directions. When his ammo depletes, his ammo will recharge back to 100. You can collect a Mega Plasma power-up which allows Jim to fire a more powerful blast which breaks through blocks and enemies. You can also collect ammo power-ups to raise your ammo up to 1000.

  • Fire Flower: Aku Aku's feathers become golden. Holding the "action" button allows Crash/Coco to use the Wumpa Bazooka to aim around, releasing the button will fire a Wumpa fruit projectile. Pressing the "action" button repeatedly allows him/her to spin more longer for Death Tornado Spin, allowing them to glide across long gaps.
