SpongeBob: Adventures in Bikini Bottom is an American surreal comedy comic book series based on SpongeBob SquarePants by Stephen Hillenburg, being published by IDW Publishing from March 7th, 2018 until TBD 2021 and Moonlake Comics afterwards.

Synopsis

SpongeBob has more insane adventures in Bikini Bottom, dealing with various wild situations.

Main

• SpongeBob SquarePants - an optimistic and naïve sea sponge who is extremely friendly as he wants to make the most of everything.
  • Gary the Snail - SpongeBob's pet snail who SpongeBob cares about a lot.
• Patrick Star - SpongeBob's idiotic best friend who doesn't really do anything as he sometimes helps him out.
• Squidward Tentacles - SpongeBob's grouchy neighbor who often just wants peace and quiet but often doesn't get it.
• Eugene H. Krabs - SpongeBob's greedy boss and the owner of the Krusty Krab who has an obsession with money as he is willing to do anything to get money.
• Sandy Cheeks - a smart squirrel from Texas who is another of SpongeBob's friends as she is often the sensical one.

• Mrs. Puff - the unfortunate teacher at SpongeBob's boating school who often has to deal with his inability to drive.
• Pearl Krabs - Krabs' girly daughter who just wants to live a normal life and doesn't really like her father's greed.
• King Neptune - the slightly egotistical but still kind king of the ocean who occasionally visits Bikini Bottom.
  • Princess Mindy - Neptune's kind daughter who often visits Bikini Bottom way more than her father due to her finding SpongeBob and Patrick to be interesting.
• Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy - two retired superheroes who are SpongeBob and Patrick's idols as they are occasionally annoyed by them.
• Larry the Lobster - an extremely buff lobster who loves working out and sometimes loves showing off his muscles.
• Perch Perkins - a fish news reporter who often reports over any major and big event in Bikini Bottom.
• Fred - a normal fish who often gets his leg injured in many ways.
• Patchy the Pirate - a nerdy yet idiotic pirate who is SpongeBob's number one fan, however, his plans to contact him always fail.
  • Potty the Parrot - Patchy's annoying pet parrot who often finds a way to annoy him in some way or another.

Antagonists

• Sheldon Plankton - the megalomaniacal owner of the Chum Bucket who wants the Krabby Patty Secret Formula to help him conquer the world.
  • Karen Plankton - Plankton's sarcastic computer bride who is often the sense during his schemes.
• Squilliam Fancyson - Squidward's flamboyant and egotistical rival who sees himself as the superior musician as he often rubs his superiority over Squidward.
• The Flying Dutchman - an anger-prone ghostly pirate captain who wants to loot and plunder but often gets annoyed by SpongeBob and Patrick.
• Bubble Bass - a fat and mean fish who despises SpongeBob and Patrick as he finds the both of them to be idiotic losers.
• DoodleBob - a doodle version of SpongeBob who can't really speak and often causes mayhem.
• Man Ray - Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy's arch-enemy and a humanoid supervillain who just wants to cause unbridled chaos.
• The Dirty Bubble - another of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy's arch-enemies who is a dirt-filled bubble as he wants to make Bikini Bottom dirty.
• Alaskan Bull Worm - a giant worm that resides in Bikini Bottom who is extremely powerful and terrifying and has a giant bite.

1. Determined Sponge - 03/07/2018 - SpongeBob, realizing he may never get his boating license, becomes determined to past a test but fails in many ways.
2. Mindless Work - 03/TBD/2018 - After a scheme of Plankton‘s involving brainwashing Sandy to steal the formula fails, Krabs takes advantage of her state to get a free employee as SpongeBob tries to convince Krabs to just let her live her life.
3. Patrick's New Pet - 04/TBD/2018 - Patrick finds a sea urchin and decides to keep it as a pet as soon everyone in Bikini Bottom decides to shun him as SpongeBob tries to convince him to abandon it.
4. Kicked Out - 04/TBD/2018 - SpongeBob and Patrick try to join a Mermaid and Barnacle Boy convention but get kicked out as they try to find ways to get in.
5. Krab Khat - 05/TBD/2018 - Mr. Krabs decides to create a social media website and forces SpongeBob and Squidward to mod it for inappropriate behavior as soon the both of them become extremely tired out at the job.
6. Zoned Out Squidward - 05/TBD/2018 - It is a concert battle between Squidward and Squilliam as Squilliam sabotages his rival by giving him some mind altering sea weed, causing him to see stuff that doesn’t exist. As a result, SpongeBob volunteers to take Squidward's place.
7. Missing Arm! - 06/TBD/2018 - While joining Sandy in Alaskan Bull Worm hunting, SpongeBob's hand gets eaten as he tries to find a way to get it back.
8. The Bikini Bottom Fashion Show - 06/TBD/2018 - Mindy returns to Bikini Bottom at the time of the annual Bikini Bottom Fashion Show as both she and Sandy get into an intense competition.
9. Cheap Patties - 07/TBD/2018 - Krabs ships the Formula to the nearby town of Octona due to finding their labor to be cheaper. But SpongeBob and Squidward decide to sabotage it for two reasons: to get their jobs back and due to their Krabby Patties being terrible.
10. The Return - 07/TBD/2018 - Man Ray and Plankton form an alliance to conquer Bikini Bottom as SpongeBob reforms his old hero team to stop them.
11. SpongeBob the Mesmerizing - 08/TBD/2018 - SpongeBob finds a stage hypnosis kit as he decides to try it on both Sandy and Pearl. But soon things get too far when he figures he doesn't know how to snap them out.
12. Snail Mail? - 09/TBD/2018 - Krabs decides to use Gary to deliver Krabby Patties as soon SpongeBob tries to stop this.
13. DoodleBob's Revenge - 09/TBD/2018 - DoodleBob returns for revenge as SpongeBob races to find a way to erase him for good.
14. Chum On the Go - 10/TBD/2018 - Plankton decides that a good way to have a step above Krabs is to take advantage of the internet as Krabs tasks SpongeBob to stop him.
15. Literal Krab Patties - 10/TBD/2018 - SpongeBob learns that Krabby Patties are made out of actual crabs as he must stop him.
16. Whatever Happened to the Krusty Krab 2? - 11/TBD/2018 - Mindy returns again and realizes that the Krusty Krab 2 no longer exists as she asks SpongeBob what happened to it as he agrees to tell the story.
17. A Sandy Afternoon - 11/TBD/2018 - SpongeBob decides to spend the afternoon with Sandy after realizing he barely knows what she does in her free time.
18. Virtual Mayhem - 12/TBD/2018 - SpongeBob buys a virtual reality device as he soon gets heavily addicted to it.
19. How Plankton Stole the Secret Formula - 12/TBD/2018 - It's Christmas Time as Plankton takes advantage of all of the festive mood in order to steal the Krabby Patty Secret Formula as Krabs tasks SpongeBob to stop him from succeeding.
20. The Krab At GloveWorld - 01/TBD/2019 - Krabs makes a deal with GloveWorld to open a Krusty Krab concession stand as he ends up forcing SpongeBob to both work at the stand and the actual restaurant at the same time.
21. The Unicorn King - 01/TBD/2019 - Patrick has bought ten stone bricks due to a man calling himself the Unicorn King telling him that buying ten bricks will cause a magical coin to appear. However, SpongeBob soon learns that the Unicorn King is actually Bubble Bass who just wants to mess with Patrick.
22. The Love Patty - 02/TBD/2019 - Krabs has announced a Valentine's Day burger which only couples can get as SpongeBob convinces Patrick and Sandy to pretend to be a couple in order to not miss out.
23. SpongeBob: A True Friend - 02/TBD/2019 - SpongeBob decides to visit his friends and try to liven their mood up as he succeeds in his goals to make his friends happy.
24. What Do You Ink? - 03/TBD/2019 - Plankton learns that Squidward produces ink as he decides to manipulate Squidward into selling off his ink so Plankton can be successful in non formula related ways.
25. Extra Cheesy - 03/TBD/2019 - Mr. Krabs launches the new Extra Cheesy Krabby Patty as it becomes an instant hit. However soon, Krabs lets the popularity go to his head.
26. Happy Birthday! - 04/TBD/2019 - It is Pearl's birthday as Krabs forces SpongeBob to create the ultimate birthday party for her which also saves the most money.
27. I’m Done with This! - 04/TBD/2019 - Squidward has finally quit as Krabs starts forcing SpongeBob to work extra hard as he attempts to convince Squidward to return.
28. You're Flipping Me Off - 05/TBD/2019 - Plankton has created a robot frycook to challenge SpongeBob to a duel of chefs as he tries to prepare for this test.
29. Jellyfishing Extreme - 05/TBD/2019 - SpongeBob decides to push his jellyfishing abilities to his absolute limits.
30. Squidward Lost - 06/TBD/2019 - After agreeing to go on a delivery in order to get rid of SpongeBob, Squidward is lost as he tries to get back to Bikini Bottom.

Trivia

• The comic is explicitly set after the first movie in order to tie loose ends and some events ending up in negative continuity.
• The series' writers stated this a work from fans for fans as they want to keep loyal to the classic formula while trying to avoid the mistakes of seasonal rot such as jerkass Patrick, Squidward torture or unnecessary grossout.
  • Stephen Hillenburg before passing away and current showrunner Vincent Waller gave their support and allowed some of the series' writers to work on it as well.
• The comic's content is notably more satirical as it features underwater takes on pop culture, technology and other events.
