Plot[]
After Scarlett's arrival is finally revealed, the Skylanders now have the restored Scratch under heavy house arrest at the Crystalwing Clan's house, unable to revert her back to her normal body while Knuckles amplifies Scratch's chaos energy once every half-an-hour to keep Scarlett from repossessing Scratch and attack the heroes. Despite being unable to leave the house, Scratch has been able to give the heroes the vital information that they needed when Scarlett possessed Scratch's body, such as Strykore's plan to find Arkus and Kaos now being in possession of one of the maps that has the information about the location to Arkus.
Not even Master Eon and Kaossandra have any success on finding a cure as the Core of Light's power can only combat a being that is slowly being turned evil by darkness and not a being that is fully consumed by darkness, until Hugo arrives in the living room managing to find a book that Scratch's late father; Scar, had containing a recipe that can remove Scarlett's corruption and possession on Scratch. However, one of the ingredients requires venom from a feared Fire Viper. Nonetheless, the Skylanders are determined to acquire it for Scratch's sake, which touches her deeply.
As the team prepares to venture off with Midnight in tow, Hugo volunteers to join their dangerous mission in the place of Knuckles since the echidna has to stay with Scratch to prevent Scarlett from repossessing the heroic feathercat, but the Skylanders object, reasoning that he is incapable of the risks and that Midnight has already taken on the role as Knuckles' temporary replacement.
The Skylanders stealthily infiltrate a sleeping Fire Viper family of three in their underground cave, but they fail to keep silent when a droplet of Jet-Vac's sweat lands on the floor, causing the Fire Vipers to wake up and imprison them. The Fire Vipers plan to eat them shortly after they wake up again for breakfast as they resume sleeping. To the Skylanders' surprise and relief, Hugo arrives, planning to rescue them, but decides to prove himself as a capable Skylander by going straight for the Fire Vipers. When the Fire Vipers reawaken, Hugo appears to be frightened to take action so the Fire Viper parents go in to devour him but realize that Hugo had tied up their tails earlier and they end up smacking against each other. With his parents' knocked out, the Fire Viper son tries to stretch his body as much as possible and almost ends up eating Hugo. Fortunately, Hugo grabs a large bone and uses it to keep the Fire Viper's mouth open whilst collecting venom. Once the vial is full, Hugo hurriedly tries to free the Skylanders and begins their escape, narrowly avoiding being trapped by the Fire Viper son.
At the dark castle, Strykore calls on Glumshanks for being the subject of his cloning machine, since Strykore was unable to gather a Troll army, he decides creating clones of Glumshanks will fit as a substitute instead. Glumshanks is more than happy to oblige, seeing this as an opportunity to have some company, especially if its himself. Shortly after, Glumshanks begins interacting with dozens of his clones, but he gets a taste of his annoying personality as his clones disregard him.
Meanwhile, the Skylanders return to their home as Pop Fizz begins creating the serum for Scratch in his roomy, the Skylanders express their astonishment of Hugo's bravery and cunning after facing of three Fire Vipers and rescuing them in the process, they even begin to agree on letting Hugo be a regular Skylander though quickly decide to hold off as Hugo still fears sheep. Finally, Pop Fizz finishes the serum, subsequently taking the pained Scratch to the Library as they prepare to administer it. However, the pained Scratch warns them that Scarlett is determined to resist drinking the serum despite Knuckles' chaos energy holding her back, which means that Scratch may not be able to take the cure. In a last desperate bid to not lose Scratch to Scarlett forever, Spyro and Knuckles combine their chaos energy together to amplify Scratch's own for a stronger effort to keep Scarlett back as Pop Fizz manages to get Scratch and Scarlett to drink the serum by adding an irresistible root beer flavor, a drink that are known feathercats love. The Skylanders take cover as the serum begins to take effect. Scratch first lets out a belch, before she floats in the air as a flash of light emitted in her body which changes her back to her normal lavender furred and magenta feathered self and the Skylanders quickly embrace her return. The serum, however, caused the separation of Scarlett's spirit from Scratch's mind and body to allow the spirit to regain her true physical form, a red eyed, black feathered and grey furred feathercat with black armor with rubies and an identical appearance to Scratch where the streaks from her host are gone due to the absence of the chaos energy in Scarlett's body. Scarlett quickly threatens the heroes, especially her good counterpart. With Scratch weakened from trying to keep Scarlett at bay from repossessing her and Midnight proving himself to be no chance for the evil feathercat as she had grown in strength during her time in Scratch's body and in the pocket dimension, Spyro decides to battle Scarlett out of harm's way as the purple dragon takes his sister's former possessor outside the Academy.
Back at the dark castle, Strykore gathers the clones in the Meditation chamber for their ultimate objective, but Glumshanks lashes out, greatly infuriated by his clones' sarcastic and annoying jabs at him, greatly wishing for Kaos to return. Coincidentally, Kaos arrives and Glumshanks is relieved to see him again. Kaos delivers Strykore's most desired item: the Map to Arkus. Kaos humbly hands it over to him, eager for his father's respect. Though Strykore is proud, he quickly gets rid of Kaos by creating a portal that sucks Kaos in. With the map finally in his hands, Strykore orders an immediate march to the Island of Arkus to acquire the Iron Fist and destroy the Core of Light. Strykore's troll army happily carries his orders, while a saddened Glumshanks reluctantly follows suit.
In the skies outside of Skylander Academy, Spyro and Scarlett are engaged in an epic aerial showdown against each other. While Spyro manages to hold her off, Scarlett eventually gets the upper hand thanks to her enhanced evil powers despite lacking chaos energy. Down below, the Skylanders cheer on in support of Spyro, motivating him to carry on the fight. Tired of his hopeful spirit, the nihilist Scarlett decides to deal the finishing blow, as she unleashes a huge burst of crystalline energy from her mask with Spyro counteracting this by unleashing his chaos energy-amplified huge burst of flames. When both of their flames clash, a massive discharge erupts.
When it clears, Master Eon and the Skylanders fear that no one could've escaped the impact. But in the aftermath, only Spyro survives, much to their happiness as they embrace him. Midnight then begins to leave out of guilt for unintentionally causing his friends' pain, but they let him stay at the academy out of gratitude to him for coming to warn them about Scarlett, because if he didn't, the heroes would have to deal with both her and Strykore, which would most likely cause problems for them. Master Eon then rekindles everyone's relationships with group hug.
Meanwhile, Strykore's portal finally spits out Kaos to an unknown area. His father's betrayal causes Kaos to commit his revenge upon him by planning to get ahead of his father to the island of Arkus and wear the Iron Fist for himself, while also being the most powerful being of the Skylands. But first, Kaos needs to figure out how to escape the cell he was teleported in, which he realizes is buried deep at the ocean floor. He says: “Typical.”

Trivia[]
- Both this episode and the Season 2 episode Split Decision have the word "split" in the title.
- It is revealed that a feathercat's drink is root beer.
- This is the only episode in the series where Scratch does not don her armor.
- This is also a reference to Scratch's appearance in the Knuckles sub-series, where Scratch did not wear her armor at the time.
- This marks the physical return of Scratch since Touch of Evil as Scarlett was using her body for a majority of the season.
- Due to regaining her physical form, Scarlett loses the feather ombre and hair streaks that she had when she possessed Scratch, as it is exclusive to the latter; meaning that Scarlett truly was unable to use chaos energy due to the power sensing Scarlett's wicked intentions.
