Sonic Underground was a short-lived cartoon made by DiC Entertainment. But Netflix decided to reboot it. The reboot was produced by Medusa Film, Cartoon Network Studios, TF1, Disney Television Animation and Netflix Animation for the aforementioned streaming service. Jaleel White reprises his voice for Sonic and his siblings, however Queen Aleena has been recast to Emma Watson, Robotnik to Maurice LaMarche, and the Oracle of Delphius having the same voice as Robotnik, as LaMarche was Delphius' original voice actor. Unlike the original show, Sonic and his siblings do find their mother eventually, and Tails is present, voiced by Bradley Pierce (the same voice actor in Sonic SatAM), and is Sonic's friend, just like in other Sonic media. Shadow and Metal Sonic are also secondary antagonists.

Differences from the original[]

  • Tails appears as an ally to Sonic, Sonia and Manic.
  • Shadow and Metal Sonic appear as secondary antagonists alongside Dr. Robotnik, Sleet and Dingo
  • Speaking of Robotnik, he was recast to Maurice LaMarche.
  • Queen Aleena has also been recast, this time to Emma Watson.
  • The show ran long enough to have a conclusion.
  • Chaos Emeralds do play a part in the story.
  • A female Swatbot named "Botette" is introduced. There is a running gag with Sleet and Dingo both falling in love with Botette, and fighting to the death for her.
  • Chaotix (Vector, Espio and Charmy) are introduced in the second season.
  • There are some cameo appearances (such as Phineas and Ferb, Ash Ketchum, Bean, Elfo and Luci, Steven Universe, Dexter and Dee Dee and more).
  • Robotnik upgraded Swatbots yet still keeping outdated Swatbots.
