It takes place after the events of Sonic Lost World and My Little Pony: Equestria Girls - Friendship Games, but before the events of the future Kingdom Hearts games. Shortly after Sora and Riku report everyone on Station Square that Dr. Eggman will conquer Sonic's World with the Hasbro and Disney Villains such as Maleficent, Ronan, The Dalek Emperor, Syndrome, Emperor Palpatine and The Dazzlings, Sonic and friends had to save the Universe before it's too late.
Gameplay, Combat System, Arena System and Worlds[]
It will combine platforming elements from the Sonic the Hedgehog series with the role-playing elements from the Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest and the Final Fantasy series. For Sonic's gameplay he will travel to Worlds from Hasbro, Disney and Pixar live-action and animated films and television series. For Silver's, Silver will go to worlds for his nature. Such as New York from The Avengers trilogy, Xandar from Guardians of the Galaxy and more. This is same goes to Shadow. However, Amy's gameplay will not only be similar like Sonic's, but also the others, including Shadow and so on. Summons are from the Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger and Sonic the Hedgehog games appear. Such as Cosmo the Seedrian and The Genie. New summons from Disney's sister companies also appear such as Hulkbuster Iron Man (Rober Downey Jr. Via in-film dialogue and Adrian Pasdar) and Rex (Wallace Shawn). Due to inclusion of Disney Sister companies, it also incorporate gameplay elements from Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Marvel Super Hero Squad Online, Disney Infinity, Disney Magical Kingdom, Club Penguin, (PC and Mobile Versions Only) Various Final Fantasy games and so on.

- In Japan, the game will be titled as 'Sonic Adventure 3: The Dazzlings and Master Xeanhort's Revenge'.
- This will be the first Sonic the Hedgehog game in which:
- Archie Comics Characters like Sally, Scrouge, Fiona, Antoine, Bunnie and several others will appear. Although Sally appears in her issue #252 design.
- Marine the Raccoon and Vanilla the Rabbit are playable. However, this also the only game where Vanilla is playable.
- Vehicles are now driven because it's an Open-world game like the Grand Theft Auto series.
- Orginally, Fang/Nack was going to be voiced by Jess Harnell but later changed to Jeff Benett to make him sounded more like an australian comedian.
- Many of Sonic's friends will return, such as Cosmo the Seedrian (???), Mighty the Armadillo (David Callagher) and Marine the Raccoon. (Fàtima Ptacek/Tara Strong)
- In fact, fans think that Marine sounded like a younger counterpart to Rikku because Marine and Rikku were both voiced by Tara Strong in this game.

- Sonic and Amy's Outfits when they go to Zootopia are based on Artsyone's Fanart where Sonic wears a black policeman's outfit with customized shoes and Heitor-Jedi's Fanart where Amy is thoughtful wearing a School Uniform consisting a White tank top with a red bow tie and a blue skirt. Although her gloves, bracelets, her headband and even her Boots remain.

- Strangenly, Amy's Super Form is supposed to be Golden Yellow like Sonic, Silver and Shadow's but in the final version her super form is White and so in the Updated Version her super form's color can be changed.
- When the game started Development, Most of the voices reprise their roles.
- However, the voices of Amy Rose and Cream the Rabbit were changed to Alyson Stoner and Daveigh Chase.
- Also, the voice of Tikal was changed to Willa Holand.
- Even the voices of Sonic and Shadow were changed to Yuri Lowrethal. (Although Yuri did a voice double of him.)
