SixByOne is a patented large format cinema concept by Loligo Ranch, with cameras and lenses supplied by Panavision. The resolution the studio recommends for optimal quality is 51800 by 8640, producing a 16K resolution.

Thomas Jebbon describes this format as being "4 times as good as IMAX, and 8 times better than the your regular theatre with CinemaScope. There's so much detail that one should see the movie several times to notice it. We're picking up what Barco Escape left behind, a truly brilliant cinema concept that immerses the viewer with a wide and crystal clear picture with sound that flies around them, even on the ground."

There are digital and film variants, the film camera using a proprietary 140mm film stock and being heavier. To make sure filmmakers have a balanced choice between digital and film, there is a "robot cameraman" that glides around the set with little noise, used for the film variant.

SixByOne Image Enhancement[]

The name also lends itself to several video enhancement technologies.

MicroScope[]

MicroScope is a technology for upscaling video and adding detail. To test the software, the software was supplied several thousands of images and videos about various different things, all captured at 16K resolution. A 2K video of those things was then upscaled to 16K, and Thomas Jebbon described the results as "incredible. You forget you're watching a Blu-ray resolution video and instead thing you're seeing one captured with a 16K cinema camera. Combine that with DDD, X3D and Dolby Atmos and you have a template for total immersion."

DDD[]

DDD is a noise reduction technology. It aims to denoise a video without destroying the detail. The name stands for "Denoise without Destroying Detail" but Jebbon joked it meant "Kirby's arch nemesis".

X-Stereo[]

X-Stereo is a concept for glassesless 3D that can be seen from all directions. It is also a name for a 3D conversion format.

The first film converted for this format was Die Hard, re-released on December 14, 2038. Thomas Jebbon has stated that the conversion "made a killer festive film even better. We mapped everything in the film, from Christmas trees to helicopters, in a 3D rendering software in order to make the image 3D, and good lord did we succeed. Combine it with DDD and MicroScope and it makes for one of the best 3D experiences ever, up there with Avatar. (laughs) Does anyone even remember that film?"
