Sesame Street is a 2022 musical adventure family comedy film written and directed by Jonathan Krisel, based on the beloved TV series of the same named created by Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrisett. The film stars Anne Hathaway, John Cusack, Chance the Rapper, and the Muppets from Sesame Street, with a special appearance by Bo Burnham, who contributed songs to the film.
Big Bird and his Sesame Street friends are mysteriously expelled from their homes and find themselves in Manhattan. While there, they team up with Sally Hawthorne (Hathaway), who has just been fired from her job as host of "Great Landmarks in Modern History", to prove Sesame Street's existence and thwart the plans of the evil Mayor (Cusack), who aims to tear down the street to make way for a large landfill (a plan that initially excites Oscar the Grouch, until he discovers that they'll take away his trash can to be used at the site).
The film was released in the United States on January 14, 2022 and received mixed reviews, with its acting performances, script and music praised, but the darker tone in comparison to its two predecessors criticized.

Notes[]
During an episode of Puppet Tears, Colleen Smith, who served as an additional puppeteer for the film, revealed that Karen Prell was present on set for one day of filming (even though she is not credited in the cast); during the scene where several Muppet animals flee from a machine gun-wielding Sally (in which Smith operated a goat), Prell performed a screaming sheep that is stopped by Grover and asked what its problem is before being scared off by a loud gunshot. Other performers during that scene included Grant Baciocco, Brian Jones, Tim Lagasse, and Allan Trautman.
