Sam & Max: The Movie (Also known as The Sam & Max Movie or The Sam & Max BIG Movie!) - This is a 2020 3D comedy-action-animated movie based on the rather popular computer game Sam & Max (2010) from Telltale Games. The movie was created by Sony Pictures Animation and TriStar Pictures and distributed by Columbia Pictures.

The focus of this movie is Max and Sam, who do not sit idly by and investigate various interesting and secret cases. But one day, their life changed for a long time, because an old friend of Sam's name, Kenny, comes, who decided to regain his former glory from the past.

Characters[]

Main[]

  • Sam (Voiced by William Shatner) - Sam is prone to long-winded sentences filled with elaborate terminology. He rarely loses his temper and is able to react to panic-inducing situations with extreme calm. When he does get angry, however, he tends to react in an uncharacteristically savage manner.
  • Max (Voiced by Jan Rabson) - Max always carries a Luger around, and when asked where he keeps it usually responds with "None of your damn business.". He is fairly trigger-happy with it in the early comics, but this is rarely seen elsewhere.

Secondary[]

  • Bosco (Voiced by Joey Camen) - Bosci is business-man style appears to be based around overcharging for any item so he can afford his elaborate high-tech, homemade security systems, as well as selling his personal brand of "BoscoTech equipment", which are generally rudimentary at best, but cost extraordinary amounts of money.
  • Sybil Pandemik (Voiced by Scarlett Johansson) - Sybil is possessing experience in the fields of tattooing, psychoanalysis, tabloid publication, court witnessing, dating service, carbon dating service, beta testing, Queenship, SCUBA diving, dark wizardry and brain surgery, among other things, Sybil has a difficult time settling down on a single profession before losing interest and finding something else to do.
  • Soda Poppers (Voiced by Asher Bishop) - Soda Poppers are triplets, though Peepers is one year younger than the others, due to a "very prolonged labor". They starred in the TV show of the same name, which began in either 1970 or 1971.
  • Flint Paper (Voiced by Tony Pope) - Flint's appearances are typically brief ones at the start of a story, with Sam & Max passing by his office while he's in the middle of pummeling some cheap thugs senseless.
  • Girl Stinky (Voiced by Melissa Hutchison) - Stinky is the proprietor of Stinky's Diner in movie.

Supportive[]

  • Darla "The Geek" Gugenheek (Voiced by Tracey Moore) - Darla usually known as just "The Geek", is Sam and Max's personal 12 year old scientist, laboratory technician, and adopted daughter. Despite being a preteen, she is a scientific genius and often provides the pair with new gadgets and inventions to aid them on their missions
  • Darla's parents (Voiced by Fred Newman and Jill Talley).
  • Ms Bosco (Voiced by Cathleen Riddley) - Ms Bosco was introduced in Chariots of the Dogs. She is a strong-willed female inventor and an adamant radical Feminist. She ran a store called "Bosco's Gun and Baby Needs" which sold (apparently) only those types of two products. After a "man" had "trashed" her store, she hired Flint Paper's partner to track the hooligan down.
  • Sam's Grandmother (Voiced by Jill Talley) - Sam's grandmother was first mentioned in the comics, soley via Sam's recollections of her favorite sayings, which he tended to preface with "As my grandmother use to say...".
  • Grandpa Stinky (Voiced by Roger Jackson) - Stinky is the original proprietor of Stinky's Diner, which he used to engage in gastronomical experiments to better the human race (mostly by creating food so bad only the toughest can stomach eating it). One such creation was The Cake of the Damned, better known as Girl Stinky, who believes him to be her grandfather.

Villains[]

  • Kenny (Voiced by Doug Lawrence) - Kenny is a selfish and pissed off, sinister movie character and an old "friend" of Sam. Kenny is a black and gray cat.
  • Kenny Jr. (Voiced by Zach Callison).

Production[]

In 2017, movie director Chris Columbus stated on Twitter that he was writing a script for a movie based on some well-known game. He also noted that this is not a script for the movie Five Nights at Freddy's. Many did not understand. to which movie this scenario, but Chris made it clear that this will be a film adaptation of one of the games from Telttale Games.

Later in the summer of 2017, Telltale Games said in an interview that the script for this adaptation was already ready and filming would begin soon. And the most interesting thing was that after an interview on Twitter, Sony Pictures Animations wrote that "Yes, yes. And we will do it :)". That made it known that the film adaptation would be done by Sony Pictures Animations.

There was no news until 2019. Until the fall of 2019, Chris Columbus announced that soon everything would be revealed and, according to him, fans would be shocked. He also added that it will be a trailer for this adaptation and with the words: "Come to San Diego Comic-Con 2019 and you will see it! :)".

Later, a trailer for this movie was shown at Comic-Con in San Diego. And after what they saw, everyone was really shocked. Everyone wrote on social networks and all over the Internet that it would be a masterpiece. And so it was. And in the summer of 2020, the movie itself comes in!
