Tropes

  • A Day in the Limelight: A Bunch of Random Students and the Golden Nut focuses on Kevin, Keshaun, Micah, Layla, Aaron, and Jacob.
  • A Wizard Did It: [sorta to justify why the Cooper robot/clone has all memories of the original]
  • Accidental Misnaming: As a joke, some characters accidentally call Mohamed, "Moo-hammed".
  • Adam Westing: Tommy Wiseau and Stella McDonnell clearly made fun of themselves in the show.
  • Animorphism: D'Jon, after being bitten by a demon bear, has the ability to turn into a bear.
  • Back from the Dead: Cooper was brought back to life in Cooper's Back?, although as a gynoid with all the original Cooper's memories.
  • Berserk Button: TBD
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: TBD
  • Black Best Friend: Mohamed, Said, and Samari are these to each other.
  • Black Comedy: The show often relies on that. The promos advertise it literally as such due to its protagonists being black.
  • Black Comedy Rape: That nearly happened with Ketonyo in Ketonyo and the Dark Street Corner, when a homosexual teen tried to make out with him, only for him to escape. Despite that, Ketonyo is still traumatized from that experience.
  • Black Sitcom: The show is basically this since it's a sitcom featuring three black teenagers.
  • Bland Name Product: Good Ol' Magic was changed to Great Ol' Powers to avoid legal issues with Warner Bros.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Said.
  • But Not Too Black: Compared to Said and Samari, Mohamed isn't 100% black, since he is part white. According to him, it's because one of his parents is black and the other is 50% white and 50% black.
  • Butt-Monkey: Samari is pretty much this in most episodes.
  • Call-Back:
    • It's obvious that Cooper's Back? takes place after Scariest Day Ever, especially since there has been references and flashbacks to Drew and Al destroying Sajoedri High School and Cooper sacrificing herself to save Mohamed from being shot.
    • Diesel the Big Rainbow Dog appears to take place shortly after Mohamed, Said, Samari, and Diesel: Dimension Travellers, since it showed Daniel talking to Diesel, asking him to find gadgets for his unfinished invention while running from one of the abomination creatures from the "Cute Creature Dimension".
  • Captain Ersatz:
    • Poison is this to Venom.
    • Pressure Boy and Temp-Temp are this to Fanboy and Chum Chum.
    • Craig the Shitty Boy is this to Collin the Speedy Boy.
    • Ricky Rat is this to Mickey Mouse.
    • Carrie Carmichael is this to Emily Elizabeth.
    • The Child Deformed Samurai Pugs are these to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
    • Mohamed, Said, Samari and Diesel: Dimension Travellers had an unnamed "Captain Ersatz" of Lion-O from ThunderCats Roar while Doshita was trying to help Mohamed, Said, Samari, and Diesel go back to their dimension.
  • Catchphrase: Jacob: "Suck his dick and twist it!".
  • Cloudcuckooland: Sajoedri is often thought as a place where almost everyone TBD.

  • Dark and Troubled Past: It was revealed that Gracey was once a cheerleader captain until she committed suicide, now feeling lonely around the graveyard, which was the reason why she took Said.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Mohamed tends to be this. Diesel has moments of these as well.
  • Expy: TBD
  • Fat and Skinny: Drew and Al.
  • Friendly Ghost: Gracey is this since it turns out she is not evil and just took Said with her to watch Netflix, to help her feel less bored and lonely.
  • Funny Animal: Diesel.
  • Gainax Ending: TBD
  • Getting Crap Past the Radar: TBD
  • Gross-Out Show: TBD
  • Gross-Up Close-Up: The show had plenty of these throughout the show, for example:

  • Hypocrite: [the SJWs/cancel culture people on that episode since they'd be majority white and straight]
  • I Let Gwen Stacy Die: After Cooper's death, Mohamed has shown to become guilty of himself for letting her die.
  • Invisible Parents: None of the teens' parents were ever seen on-screen, though they were mentioned.
  • Medium Blending: TBD

    • Bewb is basically a pun for "boob".
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: [the SJWs/cancel culture episode due to the George Floyd protests]
  • Sadist Show: TBD
  • Self-Deprecation:
    • While other episodes featuring celebrities had soundalikes voicing them, Stella McDonnell actually voiced herself in one episode and often made fun of herself.
    • Tommy Wiseau voiced and made fun of himself too.
  • Shared Universe: With The Terrestrial Extraterrestrials and I Love Luke, as one of the Sajoedri characters made a cameo in the former while the latter had a crossover with Sajoedri.
  • Shout-Out: Sajoedri has been making references to various NBCUniversal properties. For example:
    • Woody Woodpecker, who was acting insane due to being locked up in a cage for hours, made a cameo in The Male Hippo Gang. In this cameo, Billy West reprises his role.
    • Mohamed shouts "For five minutes, could you not be yourself for five minutes?!" at Samari after he TBD, with Said pointing out that Mohamed stole the quote from an ogre.

    • [Back to the Future]

    • [Jaws]
    • In Halloween in Sajoedri: Spooky Shit, a character was seen reading a book about sightings of the Wolfman, Frankenstein's monster, and Count Dracula.
    • In Dodo-Masked Robber, Mohamed calls the dodo-masked robber something you'd see from The Purge.
    • Accused for What?! is itself a homage to the Law & Order franchise, including the opening narration, its opening and theme song and the Clang sound effect.
      • The opening narration for the episode, provided by the franchise's narrator Steven Zirnkilton is the following: "In the world of television animation, there's a show that follows three black teenagers who usually get into some crazy shit. These are their stories."

  • Up to Eleven: TBD
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Mohamed and Samari.
  • Voice Dissonance: Said and Kevin are both 17 like the majority of the teen characters, but instead of sounding like what a teen would usually sound like, they have rather higher voices, making them sound like tweens.

  • Vulgar Humor: TBD
  • Where the Hell is Springfield?: It is unknown where exactly in the US is Sajoedri in.

  • Rule 34 - Creator Reactions:
    • Darnell has admitted that he watches what fans post about his characters, and whenever he sees Sajoedri porn... he simply mocks it by having a scene in a Sajoedri episode where the main characters look at them and make disgusted expressions... especially with ones that ship them with D'Jon or Diesel.
      • When he saw some out of the trio and their girlfriends, he claimed that he knew people would make it, and makes sense they are... Well, actual couples.
      • [reaction about Said and Gracey, given the fact she's a ghost]
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Sajoedri was originally going to be developed for NBC, but due to its content being considered too raunchy by the network's executives, it was moved to Netflix.
    • USA originally rejected it as well since its executives were unsure about having animated shows on their channel.
      • However, after seeing the success of it, the channel acquired the cable syndication rights for it and it eventually gained first-run rights in 2020.
    • Sajoedri was originally gonna be lighter, similar to The Terrestrial Extraterrestrials, but the creator decided to have it be raunchier, simply because he thought it would make the show more funny.

    • Fans of Family Guy, American Dad! and South Park have a rivalry with Sajoedri fans, mainly due to them seeing Sajoedri as a raunchy show Universal made to compete with them.
    • When Sajoedri first premiered, Roger and Courtnei fans were rather upset that despite R&C being Worldwide Animation's first show, Sajoedri became extremely popular (with one character even becoming the mascot of WA), as they would have flame wars and arguments with Sajoedri fans.
    • While most fans tend to get along, some fans of The Terrestrial Extraterrestrials and this don't get along, due to this being more raunchier and TTE being "too soft".
    • Ever since Craig the Shitty Boy premiered, some insane fans of Collin the Speedy Boy showed large hatred for Sajoedri.

    • Ironically, despite Sajoedri making fun of Stella McDonnell, Good Ol' Magic fans embraced the episode and they laughed at the fact its own creator is perfectly okay with the show making her a villain.
    • Despite their rivalry, many fans of The Boondocks, South Park and Family Guy have admitted to enjoy Sajoedri.
    • TTE fans tend to get along with Sajoedri fans.

    • On August 30th, 2020, a user thread posted about who would fit as Diesel if Jim Cummings decided to retire as other users replied, as some have argued and started flame wars, but one user then replied, "Idiots! I want to voice Diesel! I will very sexy when I do his voice!". The "I will very sexy" part eventually ended up becoming a meme in early September.
  • Moral Event Horizon: [extremely controversial scene that the fans were disgusted of, something like the Simpsons panda rape scene]

  • Overshadowed by Controversy:
    • The fact Mohamed is voiced by a Caucasian voice actor was rather controversial since the beginning, considering he's half-black, with some fans calling it racially insensitive, although Darnell claimed this situation was justified due to Mohamed being half-white as well and other animated shows also having white people voicing black characters.
      • Shortly after the wake of George Floyd protests, SJW fans threatened that if Mohamed doesn't get recasted with a black actor, they will cancel him and boycott his show.
        • Darnell mocked them by replying, "Okay, y'all! Since you want me to recast Mohamed with a black boy, I'm gonna buy a dog and make it voice Diesel, then trap a bear so I can make it voice D'Jon since you gotta be so insensitive.", then typed that in all seriousness, he isn't going to recast Mohamed to satisfy the SJWs.
    • Darnell stood up against the George Floyd protests by replying, "Y'all serious? We're in a middle of a goddamn pandemic and you guys wanna act batshit crazy by "peacefully" protesting about what happened to George Floyd like coronavirus don't exist! I bet some of you don't actually care about George Floyd and just take advantage of the protests so you can commit violence, vandalism, and heists, and so you can reinforce your PC claims!" However, some people started accusing him for pandering to Trump supporters and "not being a real black person" after he tweeted that.
      • Darnell admitted that he may vote for Trump out of protest since Biden claimed that black people who voted for Trump aren't real black people and that most SJWs are democrats. He also replied "I honestly don't agree with several of Trump's policies, but if Biden has shown he'd be a SJW puppet if elected, TBD".
      • Some insane fans even called Darnell, "Black John K".
    • When news spread about Jim Cummings, the voice actor of Diesel, being accused of rape and animal abuse by his ex-wife, fans were rather shocked, with some worrying that if Jim becomes fired for it, either Diesel will stop appearing (potentially killing him off) or they'll have to find a new voice actor, with a few fans think it'd make Diesel sound bad. Thankfully, the accusations turned out to be false, letting Jim continue his voice for Diesel.
      • While Darnell kept his trust on him, he revealed that if the accusations were true, he was likely to recast Diesel with Jeff Bennett.
  • Squick: TBD
  • Unpleasable Fanbase: TBD
  • WTH, Casting Agency?: Mohamed is a mixed race, yet he's voiced by a Caucasian voice actor.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?: Despite its cartoonish look, Sajoedri is known for its adult themes and often relies on TBD shock humor, strong language and TBD.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not Made on Drugs?: TBD
  • X Meets Y: The Boondocks meets South Park meets Family Guy.

WMG

These are fan theories made for Sajoedri.

  • Thanks to Sajoedri, all Universal properties take place in the same universe, with some of them taking place in different times.
  • The demon bear that bit D'Jon in the very first episode originated from the Red Room from I Love Luke.

Funny

  • Said, Diesel, and Jacob are all comic relieves in this show.
  • This scene in Tardy Sweep with Jacob's sudden outburst.
    • Jacob: This is goddamn ridiculous!
    • Said: What happened? Did you get caught by that robot broom thing?
    • Jacob: ...
    • Said: You did, didn't you?
    • Jacob: ...
    • Said: Uh, hello? You-
    • Jacob: UN-FUCKING-FORTUNATELY! I WAS LATE AND SWEPT BY THAT DUMBASS BROOM OUR DUMBASS PRINCIPAL PUT IN THIS DUMBASS SCHOOL TO SWEEP UP SOME DUMBASS STUDENTS!
  • The moment in Diesel the Big Rainbow Dog after Diesel grows large as his fur turned rainbow-colored and saying that he looks like a bad OC off of a "fetish art website".

Heartwarming

Tear-Jerker

  • Scariest Day Ever was considered the saddest episode in the whole series, mainly due to various supporting characters dying, even Mohamed's girlfriend, Cooper.

Nightmare Fuel

  • [Scariest Day Ever]
  • Mohamed, Said, Samari and Diesel: Dimension Travellers tended to have a few rather disturbing moments, for example...
    • The infamous scene where Doshita was helping Mohamed, Said, Samari, and Diesel go back to their dimension, only to end up accidentally opening weird dimensions, first being a ThunderCats Roar!-esque place and the second having an obese and hostile African-American guy, which they were intended to be funny... but for the third one, it was dark at first, until Ricky grabbed a flashlight, only for that dimension to reveal what appears to be a woman whose whole body has been severely burned, especially around the face, that it looks like hamburger meat. It is apparently a reference to Throbbing Gristle's song, Hamburger Lady, and it has been considered one of the most disturbing scenes in the series.
    • Near the end, Mohamed, Said, Samari, Diesel, Doshita, and Ricky go through a dimension with cute creatures, but when Samari accidentally kills one of them, the creatures become pissed and then turn into nightmarish-looking abominations and chase them. Thankfully, they made it out and into the dimension where the Sajoedri gang and Diesel belong (though one of the creatures manage to make it to the city).
    • While trying to find Doshita who took the invention, Mohamed, Said, Samari, and Diesel go through a dimension where they come across a conjoined baby, which can be pretty disturbing to some viewers.
