Rugrats: Royal Ransom Rebuilt is an HD remake of the 2002 "Rugrats" video game, "Rugrats: Royal Ransom". The story, gameplay, and voice acting are pretty much identical to the original PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Gamecube title, with the original voice clips from in-game and during cutscenes reused via archive voice recordings. The only difference being that Elizabeth Daily (Tommy Pickles), Candi Milo (Chuckie Finster), Cheryl Chase (Angelica Pickles), Kath Soucie (Phil and Lil DeVille), and Cree Summer (Suzie Carmichael) will provide new voice clips for their respective characters. Following Dionne Quan's retirement from voice acting, Kimi Watanabe will be voiced by Charlet Chung, who voiced the character in the 2021 reboot.
CHANGES FROM THE ORIGINAL[]
- The game's main story can now be played via 2-player local split-screen co-op, with the multiplayer mini-games supporting up to 4 players.
- A new DLC pack features an additional floor for Stu's Play Palace 3000, with more levels with additional themes not used in the original game like Western/Cowboy themed levels, Pirate themed levels, and Egyptian themed levels. (Feel free to comment additional theme suggestions)
- You can replay a mini-game challenge in Story Mode after losing.
- When you exit a level, the character you play as will not slide out of the Play Palace 3000. You'll just be taken back inside the Play Palace 3000.
- The game's difficulty levels have been altered.
- "Baby Easy" and "Rugrat Medium" modes no longer have a 1-Up system. The difference between both modes is that on "Baby Easy" mode, fall damage has been removed. "Rugrat Medium" has fall damage restored.
- "Reptar Hard" mode restores the life system from the original game's "Rugrat Medium" difficulty, along with the tokens needed to put your Rugrat back in the Play Palace 3000 and the exploding Angelica boxes. But completing the game's story mode on the "Reptar Hard" difficulty will eliminate the life system altogether.
- You can now play as Angelica after beating the game's main story on any difficulty.
- When selecting a level to play, there will now be a level difficulty screen that tells you how hard a level will be. This can come in handy in the "Rugrat Medium" and "Reptar Hard" difficulty modes of the game's main story.
- The levels "Cheesy Chase" and "Rise of the Anjellyuns" now offer flight mode for the characters, with either jetpacks or rocket boots added to their space suits. And no fall damage can happen on all difficulty modes.
- Checkpoints are now added to platforming levels.
- A possible level editor mode similar to "Disney Infinity", at least when it was in development. This could also be an area added into the game as an optional bonus feature.
