The service is centered around Paramount Global's entertainment studios: Paramount Pictures, Paramount Animation, Paramount Television Studios, Nickelodeon Animation Studio, Nickelodeon Productions, Nickelodeon Movies (only consisting of its fully computer-animated film library), and select content from CBS Entertainment; mainly consisting of the Star Trek franchise, along with a few suitable programs from its pre-split with the original Viacom those include I Love Lucy; The Andy Griffith Show; Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1996), and selected films from its film subsidiary CBS Films (mainly Extraordinary Measures, The DUFF, and Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life). Akin to Disney+, Paramount Prime will not carry any content from Comedy Central, MTV, and VH1 due to their mature content and omits any R-rated and TV-MA-rated content on Paramount and CBS' behalves to focus on "family-oriented" content, as its sister service Paramount+ will handle those networks; Paramount+ will also host as Paramount Prime's add-on service.

The service not only excludes mature content from itself, but also original content from Paramount+ (such as Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Lower Decks) and content from Netflix (such as Pinky Malinky and Glitch Techs) to distance itself as its own streaming service.

Content library[]

Paramount Prime will have content from Paramount, Nickelodeon, and CBS, as well as select television series from Paramount Television Studios and CBS Media Ventures With Nickelodeon's content, the entirety of Nickelodeon Movies' traditionally-animated and live-action films will be available on Paramount+, making their fully computer-animated films (excluding The Adventures of Tintin) exclusive to Paramount Prime; this was also the case for Nick Jr., with it remaining on Pluto TV. Star Trek: The Original Series, its follow-up animated series and six-film saga are featured exclusively on Paramount Prime; the service excludes its sequel series The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Picard, and prequels Enterprise and Discovery. Aside from the films featured on the service are released by Paramount Pictures and CBS Films, there are a few selected titles released by DreamWorks Pictures (Mouse Hunt, Paulie, Small Soldiers, and Evolution) and Dimension Films (the first three Spy Kids films and The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl) due to Paramount owning the rights to DreamWorks Pictures' pre-2010 library, and Dimension Films' pre-2005 library. Three Paramount films added which were both co-distributed by Columbia Pictures such as D.A.R.Y.L., The Indian in the Cupboard and The Longest Yard.

Half of the Indiana Jones franchise is featured exclusively on the streaming service since Paramount retained the distribution rights to the first four films and television series The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. This also included the two Peanuts films Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown and Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (and Don't Come Back!!), which were both distributed by Paramount as well. The service was also able to include the first four seasons of the 1991 animated series Doug, which were made before The Walt Disney Company had bought the rights in 1996; while the last three seasons are available on Disney+. Unfortunately, Paramount's 2006 to 2012 library of the 14 films it has distributed for DreamWorks Animation is not available due to the distribution rights having been transferred to Universal Pictures since 2018.
