Pandemic 2030 is a run and gun video game based on the film of the same name, produced by Midway Manufacturing Company as an arcade video game in 1992. Developed in tandem with the movie, several actors from the film including Roddy Piper reprise their roles in the film and are featured as part of the game's photorealstic digitized graphics. The game's plot largely follows that of the film, casting up to two players as characters Reginald "Reggie" Barr and Hank Cacaronie, two highly trained soldiers who are assigned to find the only cure to a growing virus in an untouched island. In contrast with the film, which was a notable box-office dissapointment, the game was a success in the arcades and became Midway's second most popular game by the end of 1992, second only to the original Mortal Kombat. Home conversions of the game were released by Acclaim Entertainment for various platforms.
