Over the Hedge 2: This Means War Is an upcoming American computer-animated heist action comedy film directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson and Kemp Powers. It's a sequel to Over the Hedge and stars Zachary Levi (replacing Willis), Ryan Reynolds (replacing Shandling), Steve Carell, Wanda Sykes, William Shatner, Avril Lavigne, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Finn Lee-Epp, Alan Kim, Mckenna Grace, Omid Djalili, Hailee Steinfeld, Taika Waititi, Kimiko Glenn, Pete Davidson, Maya Rudolph, Brian Tyree Henry with Chris Pine and Allison Janney. The film is distributed by Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation. The film received critical acclaim from it's critics saying that this movie has everything that the first one doesn't like the emotional weight, its heartfelt storytelling, action-packed scenery, chemistry between the characters and its metaphorically portrayal of abandonment issues of being abandoned by a loved one. The critics say it's probably the best one compared to the first one since How to Train Your Dragon.

Ideal Premise[]

After RJ, Verne and the others are living a peaceful quiet life in the forest but there time is shortened with construction workers and others destroying the other part of the forest to make a wildlife free suburban housing, they have no where to go but they bump into a girl who talks to animals Clara, who joins the animals to save their homes but when an old foe is now free she now wants revenge and is planning to destroy all the forests to make the suburbs huge. So its up to the animals to go save the environment.

Ideal Cast[]

  • Zachary Levi as RJ, an intelligent and charismatic raccoon. Bruce Willis is unable to reprise the role due to aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.
  • Ryan Reynolds as Verne, a cynical and timid ornate box turtle who is the leader of the foragers. Garry Shandling won't reprise the role due to his passing in 2016.
  • Steve Carell as Hammy, a hyperactive American red squirrel whose mouth moves as fast as his feet. He is naïve and childish in nature, with an extremely short attention span. Carell reprises the role.
  • Wanda Sykes as Stella, short-tempered and sassy striped skunk.
  • William Shatner and Avril Lavigne as Ozzie and Heather
  • Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara as Lou and Penny
  • Finn Lee-Epp, Alan Kim and McKenna Grace as Spike, Bucky and Quillo, Lou and Penny's triplet children who enjoy playing video games and are the most enthusiastic about exploring beyond the hedge.
  • Omid Djalili as Tiger, a snobbish Persian cat whose full name is "Prince Tigerius Mahmoud Shabazz". Who is Gladys' former cat and Stella's love interest.
  • Hailee Steinfeld as Clara Sharp, a teen rebellious girl who has an ability to talk to animals and helps RJ and the rest to save their environment and is Gladys' estranged daughter who believes her mother loved her selfish needs more than her family.
  • Taika Waititi as Benny, a wisecracking and mischief Siberian Tiger who escaped from the zoo who joins the foragers on their adventure.
  • Kimiko Glenn as Usagi, a kind yet cheerful rabbit who wants to find her way back home to Japan and joins the foragers on their adventure.
  • Maya Rudolph as Dominique, a wise and smart Indian Peafowl also known as a Peacock who also escaped from the zoo.
  • Pete Davidson as Tony, a cute Cockapoo who joins the foragers but they later find out he's Gladys' pet dog who eventually replaced Tiger.
  • Brian Tyree Henry as Dr. Leslie, a former vet who is hired by Gladys Sharp for her Vengeance.
  • Chris Pine as Henry Sharp, Clara's father and Gladys' ex-husband who has a kindhearted personality especially towards animals. It was revealed Gladys abandoned both her husband and daughter to live a luxurious lifestyle leaving him in an emotional state.
  • Allison Janney as Gladys Sharp, the former president of the El Rancho Camelot Estates Home Owners Association who is free from jail and wants revenge on all animals that ruined her life and forms a team of animal-hating people who have that same problem in her life.
  • Thomas Middleditch as Kyle, a dim-witted taxi driver who joins Gladys.
  • Elisa Gabrielli as Linda Beckham, a Gardener who joins Gladys.

Ideal Scenes[]

  • when Gladys tempts her daughter Clara to "come home to her mommy" which leads her traumatizing memories of her leaving and her dad sobbing in tears, she immediately said no and told her what she felt after she left and accused her for loving the wealth instead which leads her to reveal her secret about talking to animals which Gladys disbelief and criticizes them for dirt filthy vermins, Clara shouted "The only dirty filthy vermin is You! And Your not my Mom!"
  • Clara admits to RJ that Gladys Sharp was her mom and reveals when Clara was a kid, Gladys has always been a narcissist and thinks her old lifestyle is ugly but when she received a call from El Rancho Camelot Estates she was voted as the president so she can take care of residential homes in suburbia. Gladys leaves a note to Henry, her husband and Clara didn't know where her mom is and Henry told her the truth leaving them both crying, as Clara grew she began hating her mom but when she found out about RJ and the rest being attacked by the same woman who left her. She decided to help them and prove the whole environment was not just the humans.
  • When Clara told her dad the truth and why she helped Henry supported her no matter what and agrees to help her and the animals to stop Gladys from destroying the forest.
  • By the end of the film about Gladys' defeat (possibly dead from an explosion), Henry was voted and became the President of Home Owners Association.

Ideal Trivia[]

  • Clara and Henry Sharp are the first characters in Over the Hedge that love and respect animals period.
  • Clara Sharp is based on the character Clara from the comic strip of the same name.
  • Its possible that Gladys Sharp has gotten severe PTSD after the incident.
