OldWeb Navigator is a specialized software application designed to revive and modernize support for legacy web plug-ins. Compatible with major browsers including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari, it brings back functionality for classic NPAPI plug-ins—such as Java, Silverlight, and Adobe Flash—that were deprecated in modern browser architectures. In addition to legacy support, OldWeb Navigator also introduces a suite of new, custom plug-ins that extend browser capabilities in a secure and user-friendly way. Ideal for enthusiasts, researchers, and developers, it bridges the gap between the early web experience and today's standards.
History[]
OldWeb Navigator was founded by a joint-venture of US-based MemoryWave Studios and Mozilla and China-based AnimoTronix (known as OldWeb Browser Group) on January 15, 2020 on Chrome Web Store and Microsoft Store, and later on mobile devices before the end-of-support of Flash Player.
Features[]
- Full NPAPI plugins support - Support for NPAPI plugins (Flash, Java, Silverlight, WMP, Unity, and more)
- Legacy compatibility mode – Emulates older browser behavior for vintage web pages.
- Modern rendering engine base – Uses a Goanna-based core, so it can still render most modern HTML5 and CSS3 content, similar to other modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, IE, Opera, etc.).
- Sandboxing and security options – To isolate old plug-ins from the rest of the system.
- Custom UI themes – Mimics classic browser designs (like early Netscape or 2000s Firefox).
- Integrated web archive access – Lets users browse preserved web content (e.g., old pages or snapshots).
- Multi-platform support – Runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, AnimoOS, TSUG, Red Hat, Mint, Ubuntu, Xenika, Linux distributions, EyeLine OS, AmigaOS, EKS Vortex, LaptopPal, Nostalgicomputer, and others, smart TVs like Roku, WebOS, Samsung Smart TV, Android TV, TVTSUG, smartwatches like watchOS, WTSUG, and even mobile devices (Android, iOS, iPadOS, PTSUG, TabPal, PocketPal, though the mobile plug-in support is limited, for some reasons, the plugins barely work). It also runs on a online operating system named OldWebOS.
- Language packs and accessibility features – Interface available in dozens of languages, plus zoom and high-contrast options.
- Privacy controls – Ad-blocking, script controls, and user agent spoofing to help reduce tracking.
- Additional features - VPN access, Ambassador, alarms, clocks, timers, and more.

As a web feature[]
OldWeb Navigator can be also offline its own browser on other browsers (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox, Waterfox (Modern and Classic), IE, Opera, Pale Moon, Basilisk, Puffin, etc.) as a web feature named ZoomerAllMedia Plugin, which mixes all the web plugins (Flash, Shockwave, Silverlight, VLC, DjVu, ActiveX, QuickTime, WMP, Bink Video, OpenH264, Unity, 3DVIA, ASAP, Cult3D, Blender, iPIX, etc.) into one that is used on different websites like Internet Machine, NostalgiaHub, Shidonni, Newgrounds, Coolmath Games, FlashThemes, Homestar Runner, Neopets, Sunrise Games, Nostalgic' Kids Sites, Silverlight Buzz, the Cubeez official website, and more. It is a alternative version of Ruffle, which uses only Flash Player.
Trivia[]
- The original idea of OldWeb Navigator was started in July 26, 2017 after Adobe announced that Flash Player will end this support as the working title Meow Browser.
- The browser is named after the Old Web aesthetic.
- On mobile, it is the one of the web browsers that barely supports NPAPI without any mimicking and hacking, along with Basilisk Browser for Mobile and Pale Moon for Mobile.
- It's the same with the TV and game consoles versions.
