Tropes[]
- Ass Kicks You:
- Bad Future: The Rapid Eye originated from
- Badass Adorable: Rin, Clear, Edward and Yue & Kurogitsune are this, due to their younger appearances.
- Clothing Damage: The defeated fighters suffer this upon being dealt the finishing blow. Averted with Edward, who just lies down and doesn't fall unconscious, and the Mirror Men, who are composed of Shadow Shards and shatter into pieces of darkness.
- Crisis Crossover:
- Darker And Edgier: Than both Nitro+ Royale and Blasterz, due to involving a proper plot this time.
- Downloadable Content: Unlike most fighting games, all DLC are free.
- Drunk on the Dark Side: The bad endings of each chapter can be reached by winning a majority of fights with Heartbreakers...or by picking the wrong choices in-between battles.
- Earn Your Happy Ending:
- Easter Egg/Omake: After every bad ending, Granny Tae's Guidance Corner will be shown unless the player used too many Heartbreakers, in which instead a notice will remind the player on how too many times they killed their foes.
- Fighting Clown: Basketballs and jellyfish drones aside, Makoto and Clear mainly have sillier attacks. …Their Climaxes are either serious or scary, though.
- Finishing Move: True Climaxes. And their darker Atrocity-exclusive equivalent, Heartbreakers, which are meant to kill a fighter's foe or make him completely helpless in a brutal way and are based off his flaws and bad ending (if he has one.)
- Gainaxing: If a guy has a big butt or prominent abs, expect the bouncing.
- Guest Fighter: Countless others from third-party made BL, as well as some originating from female-aimed franchises that are not BL.
- Non Standard Game Over:
- Our Vampires Are Different: Keiichi is a dhampir created from mad science while Astarion was turned into a vampire spawn via a fatal bite.
- Pintsized Powerhouse: Rin and Edward are shorter than the other fighters, but both can overcome larger opponents without a sweat. There's even an achievement for going through Arcade with them as a team!
- Puppet Fighter: The DRAMAtical Murder cast consists of this, having paired up with their AllMates. Even Clear, who summons jellyfish attack drones to assist him.
- Smoke Out: Motomi, Koujaku and Mink's smoking can break combos and inflict the 'Cough' ailment, with the former two able to use their cigarettes as projectiles and the latter as a close-range counterattack.
- Status Effects: Ailments can be inflicted during fights to hinder his foe.
- Super Deformed: Everyone in Granny Tae's Guidance Corner appears like this, courtesy of Yuupon's chibi-style art.
- Superpowered Evil Side: Atrocity Mode. Not everyone has it, though.
- Took a Level in Badass: Arbitro of all people! All (no) thanks to Akumu giving him a Wishstone, allowing him to gleefully summon torture instruments and Gatling Guns to protect himself.
YMMV[]
- Catharsis Factor:
- Fan Nickname: 'Yaoi Ranbu' for the game in general. Ironically, only one of the fighters is a Touken Danshi.
- Signature Scene:
- Take That, Scrappy!: Tae scolding, then at the last second kicking Mink at his nether-regions during his episode of Guidance Corner

Trivia[]
- The Other Darrin: None of the voice actors of the DMMD anime English dub reprise their roles. Mikazuki also gets a new VA, Yuri Lowenthal, replacing both of his anime adaption dubs, and for a good reason.
- In the Japanese translation of Baldur's Gate III, all of the male characters had "俺" as their pronoun, and had any personality tics erased, which seemed OOC for some. In this game, Astarion uses "アタシ" and ends most his sentences in "ですわ" to fit his way of speaking more.
