Nature Cat: The Musical is a 2022 animated film. It was released on October 4, 2022, on VHS and DVD.
Plot[]
Nature Cat creates an educational musical program with Hal, Squeeks, Daisy, Houston, Sir Galahad, Ronald, Herbert the Hermit Crab, Nature Dog, Pinkus the brown hedgehog, MC Ferret, Jingles the cat, Lewis, Danny, Sadie Dog, and One Eared Winnie (a.k.a. Gwendolyn). Will their musical be a huge success?
Trivia[]
- Henry says "Wow!" a few times in this movie.
- The duck that appears in the audience in the musical is actually a mallard duck.
- Nature Cat saves the Philistine guards (including Sadie, Sir Galahad, and Houston) from the collapsing wall in Jericho.
- There are various unnamed characters that play the Philistine guards that taunt the Israelites. It is not known who voiced them.
- Nature Cat bends down and sprinkles the confetti and streamers on the audience instead of having a confetti cannon explode the confetti and streamers. As such, the audience at the preview show of the musical only consists of Martin the pastel blue dog, a yellow dog named Phill, a beaver named Edward, a mom cat with her baby daughter and a female brown cat, a frog sitting on Martin the pastel blue dog's nose, a light blue dog, a duck, an owl named George, a gray dog named Henry, and a pink poodle named Joy.
- However, in Nature Cat: Nature Cat & The Nature Company, the mom cat was named Erica, the brown cat was named Wilma, and the baby red cat's name was Lilly.
- After Act two of Josh and the Big Wall, Daisy went on the stage instead of Nature Cat. As such, Hal reunited with Nature Cat instead of Lewis after the act finished.
- Martin and some of the other audience members wave a small white light around in the air during the entire show (and the cast of the musical doesn't notice it.)
- It is unknown if the musical continued to run after the preview show of the musical.
- All of the other Nature Cat characters don't physically appear in this film (they only appear on the screen during various Nature Cat scenes in the NatureTales intro song (including the finale.)
- Instead of the Silly Songs, there are two life lesson songs before each of the acts continue.
- Sadie appears in the musical as one of the Philistine guards that taunt the Israelites.
- This Nature Cat film heavily borrows almost all of the things from the original VeggieTales Live! On Stage show from 2002. The songs are sung to the tune of said songs from VeggieTales Live! On Stage. Not to mention, this is the first and only Nature Cat production to date to have religious themes and Christian storytelling. As such, Ronald portrays the giant (Goliath), Pinkus portrays Abidanab, Herbert portrays Jesse, Squeeks portrays Dave (although Squeeks is a girl character and not a boy), MC Ferret portrays King Saul, Houston, Sadie, and Sir Galahad portray the French Peas, Hal and Lewis the brown dog portray angels, Nature Cat portrays Marcy, Jingles portrays Eilab, Daisy, Gwendolyn, Nature Dog, and a brown owl named Danny portray the 4 sheep. Later, for act 2, Lewis is seen as Joshua, Hal acts as a Levite, and Ronald then portrays an angel that Joshua speaks to in the exact same act.
- Instead of having the rock hit Ronald (as Goliath), Squeeks (as Dave) softly and slowly taps a rock on his head. Then Ronald (as Goliath), starts leaning from left to right, then spins around until he stops and sits down on the floor of the stage, before he pretends to fall and play dead as if he lost the battle, then Ronald's costume comes off.
- Martin shouts "Hooray!" and "Bravo!" during act 2 of Josh And The Big Wall and after the finale.
- This Nature Cat movie is the only Nature Cat related production that was not aired on PBS Kids because of it's religious themes and Christian storytelling, and it was instead released on DVD and VHS.
