Mickey Mouse & Bugs Bunny's Kombat Showdown is a 2000 fighting game developed and published by Acclaim Entertainment and Midway Games, produced by Disney Interactive Studios and Warner Bros., and released on the PlayStation and Game Boy Color. It is a family-friendly, satirical take on the Mortal Kombat series of video games, replacing the graphic violence and gory imagery with a Looney Tunes-style brand of cartoonish violence and slapstick humor. In the game, players can control hundreds of characters as they battle through over 40 different environments. Each character has a unique, humorous battle minigame (for example, as a Fatality-esque move for Elmer Fudd, if one plays as Elmer against Daffy Duck, you can summon Bugs Bunny in a "Duck Season, Rabbit Season" routine that ends with Daffy getting shot in the face).
The game is sponsored by McDonald's, Chuck E. Cheese's, M&M's, Kool-Aid, Nestle, Kellogg's, and General Mills; as such, Ronald McDonald and friends, Mac Tonight, Chuck E. Cheese, the M&M characters, the Kool-Aid Man, Farfel the Dog, Quicky the Bunny, and several Kellogg's and General Mills mascots appear as unlockable characters. The producers also received permission from Universal Pictures to use their characters; the Woody Woodpecker cast, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Mr. Peabody and Sherman, and, in his first appearance since 1957, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, from Paramount Pictures to use Betty Boop, Willy Wonka, Felix the Cat, and Baby Huey, from Marvel Comics to use the Green Goblin, Howard the Duck, Jester and Madcap characters, from the Jim Henson Company to use Gonzo from The Muppets, from Lyrick Studios to use the Barney the Dinosaur character, and from the Children's Television Workshop to use Sesame Street's Cookie Monster. Hulk Hogan also appears as two unlockable characters ("Real American" Hulk Hogan and nWo "Hollywood" Hogan), due to the promotion at which he was employed at the time, World Championship Wrestling, airing its programming on TNT, which is owned by Time Warner Inc, as do Smokey Bear and McGruff the Crime Dog, as the Ad Council allowed the use of both characters, Sugar Bear (allowed use by Post), and Cap'n Crunch, courtesy of Quaker Oats. Cartoonist Jim Davis also allowed the use of the Garfield and Odie characters, and Charles M. Schulz allowed the use of Snoopy, Woodstock and Fifi from Peanuts, while characters from shows produced by Hanna-Barbera's chief animation rival, Filmation, including the Archie gang and He-Man, also appear, as do Sid & Marty Krofft's "H.R. Pufnstuf" and "Wilhemina Witchiepoo" characters, Clifford the Big Red Dog from Scholastic's book series of the same name, and Slimer from Sony Pictures' Ghostbusters.
While most of the roster is unlocked from the start, there are several "Special Characters" that are unlocked when defeating them in boss battles: ALF, the Archie gang, Audrey II, Baloo, Betty Boop, Birdie the Early Bird, Captain Caveman, the Casper cast, the Cheshire Cat, Chief Blue Meanie, Chuck E. Cheese, Cookie Monster, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Cow and Chicken, The Crypt Keeper, Dexter and Dee Dee, Felix the Cat, Figment, Dr. Frank-N-Furter, Funnyface, Funnyman, Garfield and Odie, The Genie, Gizmo, Gonzo, Green Goblin, Grimace, The Hamburglar, the He-Man cast, The Heckler, H.R. Pufnstuf, Hulk Hogan, The Jester, Jiminy Cricket, The Joker, Katz, several Kellogg's and General Mills mascots, King Louie, the Kool-Aid Man, the M&M characters, Madcap, Stanley Ipkiss (as The Mask), Madcap, Mojo Jojo, Mr. Mxyzptlk, The Pink Panther, Popeye, the Powerpuff Girls, The Prankster, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Ronald McDonald, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Sebastian, Slimer, The Smurfs, Snoopy and Fifi, Timon and Pumbaa, Tinker Bell, The Toyman, The Trickster, Wilhemina Witchiepoo, The Wicked Witch of the West, Woodstock, Woody Woodpecker, Yogi and Boo-Boo Bear. Also unlockable are "classic" versions of several characters, including Barney Rubble (Barney with his earlier, higher-pitched voice), Bugs Bunny (the prototype "Happy Rabbit" from the 1938 Looney Tunes short Porky's Hare Hunt), Daffy Duck (the crazy screwball Daffy characterized by Tex Avery and Bob Clampett), Daisy Duck (Daisy from her debut in 1940's Mr. Duck Steps Out), Donald Duck (the early Donald from the 1930s'), Elmer Fudd ("Egghead" from the 1937 short Egghead Rides Again), Goofy (1930s' debut Goofy), Mickey Mouse (the early Mickey from the 1930s'), Minnie Mouse (the early Minnie from the 1930s'), Pete (the early Pete seen in the 1920s' and 1930s'), Porky Pig (the fat Porky from the 1930s'), Secret Squirrel (Secret with his Sylvester-esque voice), Space Ghost, and Tweety (early Tweety, named "Orson", from the 1940s'). Every character appears with up to 20 different attires, ranging from retro/modern costumes and color schemes, to even physical character redesigns.
Mickey Mouse & Bugs Bunny's Kombat Showdown hit stores on January 24, 2000, and received positive reviews upon its release. The game was dedicated in memory to voice actors Mary Kay Bergman (who voiced Daphne Blake in the game), Ed Gilbert (the voice of Baloo the Bear), and Jean Vander Pyl (the voice of Wilma Flintstone); the credits also contain thanks to Joseph Barbera, Stefanianna Christopherson, Clint Howard, Nicole Jaffe, Heather North, Bruce Reitherman, and deceased voice actors Dave Barry, Bea Benaderet, Thelma Boardman, Arthur Q. Bryan, Daws Butler, Sebastian Cabot, Ruth Clifford, Marcellite Garner, Sterling Holloway, Barbara Luddy, Jimmy MacDonald, Don Messick, Mae Questel, Kent Rogers, Hal Smith, Grace Stafford, Walter Tetley, Danny Webb, and Ralph Wright. Voice recording for the game occurred from late 1998 to mid-1999 (to accommodate the availability of all of the voice actors), but the game was not released until January of 2000.

Notes[]
This game marks the firsts and lasts for several of its voice actors:
One of the first performances of Tress MacNeille as Daisy Duck, sharing with Diane Michelle
The first performances of Kath Soucie as Kanga and Nikita Hopkins as Roo, the former sharing with Tress MacNeille
The first performance of Mindy Cohn as Velma Dinkley, sharing said role with B.J. Ward
The first appearance of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in over 40 years
The first appearance of Beans the Cat in over 60 years
One of the first performances of Jeff Bennett as Foghorn Leghorn, sharing the role with Greg Burson; Bill Farmer was originally cast in the role, but Farmer opted to stick to voicing Goofy and Pluto.
The last performances of Mary Kay Bergman as Daphne Blake and Jean Vander Pyl as Wilma Flintstone before their deaths in 1999; Grey DeLisle and Tress MacNeille, respectively, filled in for unfinished dialogue
Some of the last performances of Paul Winchell before his retirement in 1999; he shared Tigger and Dick Dastardly with Jim Cummings
One of the last full-time performances of Frank Oz as Cookie Monster before his semi-retirement in 2000
The last performance of Robin Williams as The Genie before his death in 2014
One of the last performances of Bob West as Barney the Dinosaur
The last performance of William Hanna as Tom and Jerry before his death in 2001
The last performances of Julie Bennett before her retirement in 2000
One of the final performances of Lorenzo Music as Garfield before his death in 2001
The last regular performance of Henry Corden as Fred Flintstone before his death in 2005; he shared the role with Jeff Bergman
The last performances of Dallas McKennon, Howard Morris, Jane Webb and John Erwin as the Archie gang, as well as Jane Webb's first, last and only credit post-retirement in 1987
The only performances of Sheldon Allman, William Callaway, Jerry Dexter, Squire Fridell, Julie McWhirter, Allan Melvin, and Lennie Weinrib after their retirements years prior
The last performance of Michael Sinterniklaas as the Pink Panther
Edan Gross' last voice performance before his retirement in 1999
The animation supervision was done by Eric Goldberg, Earl Kress and Joe Ranft, while its score was composed by Alan Menken and Richard Stone, the latter in his final Warner Bros. project before his death in 2001.
While Brad Abrell, Phil Baron, Julianne Buescher, Bruce Lanoil, and Drew Massey are credited as character reference puppeteers, they also go uncredited as having provided additional voices for the game.
Many character costumes in the game strangely foreshadow their outfits in future projects. For example, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy sport alternate attires identical to the ones sported in the Kingdom Hearts games, while The Joker's alternate attire of grubby hair, black eye rings and a Glasgow smile is a prototype for Heath Ledger's appearance as the character in The Dark Knight. Lola Bunny receives an extra attire akin to the one seen on The Looney Tunes Show, while two of Melissa Duck's attires resemble Tina Russo from the aforementioned series.
If a player types in a secret code ("CDoublejoker"), they will unlock a hidden character named Charlie Doublejoke, a dog-esque version of the Joker (even voiced by Mark Hamill); he wouldn't appear in Mickey Mouse comic issues until 2004.
