Marvel Super Kart Galaxy title card

A list of Tropes for Marvel Superhero Adventures: Intergalactic Grand Prix (or simply Superhero Adventures: Intergalactic Grand Prix), a kart racing video game of the superhero genre developed by Sumo Digital and published by Sega, Marvel Entertainment and Disney Interactive for PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It is also followed by a sequel, Sonic and Marvel Superheroes: Multiverse Speedstorm, which is also a crossover between the Marvel Universe and the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.

Tropes[]

Main Game[]

  • Action Mom:
    • Gamora fits this trope; she is considered as the "team mom" of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and has a daughter with Peter Quill named Zoe.
  • Actor Allusion:
    • Patrick Seitz voices Ghost Rider with the same tone as Scorpion in the Mortal Kombat franchise.
    • Lex Lang voices Samuel Sterns the Leader with a similar tone of Dr. Neo Cortex (another oversized-headed villain) from the Crash Bandicoot franchise.
    • In addition to voicing Gwen Stacy/Ghost-Spider, Lacey Chabert also voices Gwen Poole/Gwenpool, who is an amalgamation of Gwen and Deadpool.
  • Animal Lover: Mary Jane Watson qualifies for this trope for her love for wild cats, especially tigers; the reason why she has such a beautiful relationship with her pet tiger Diego.
  • Camera Abuse:
    • In a cutscene where he and his team of villains are interviewed before their race against Black Panther's team in Wakanda, M'Baku / Man-Ape does this to one of Betty Brant's camera drones. Immediately after proclaiming that "Wakanda belongs to the Jabari", Man-Ape does not feel sorry for savagely punching the camera.
  • Clothes Make the Superman: Mary Jane Watson and her bandmates the Mary Janes (Betty Brant, Gloria Grant, and Gwen Stacy's sister Sarah) all wear nanotech suits with technologic special capabilities along with some extra abilities: Mary Jane's suit allows her to manifest nanotech objects (such as racing flags, an ear communicator, and flying platforms) and teleport, Betty's suit allows her to manipulate gravity and telepathically control her drones (which she uses for her live interviews), Glory's suit grants her increased strength and stamina and allows her to manipulate fire and electricity (which she uses in her work as a mechanic), and Sarah's suit allows her to fly with her winged boots and project pink googles with heat beams and X-Ray vision.
  • Empathy Pet:
    • Lucky the Pizza Dog serves this purpose for Hawkeye.
    • As always, Lockjaw serves this purpose for the Inhuman Royal Family of Attilan.
    • Mary Jane Watson has Diego, a genetically-modified male bengal tiger who was given to her by T'Challa / Black Panther and his Wakandan loyalists as a gift.
  • Eye Am Watching You:
    • Hulk does this to Loki before the race in Asgard.
  • Friend to All Children: Superheroes and their companions very much fit this trope:
    • Peter Parker/Spider-Man is mentioned to have once cheered up ill children in a children's hospital during Christmas.
    • Mary Jane Watson and her pet tiger Diego are also fond of children, as shown when they greet some Xandarian children before the heroes' race in the Nova Empire track.
Mary Jane Watson: "Don't worry, you know Diego's great with children. He treats them all like cubs regardless of their species."
    • Star-Lord and Gamora also fit this trope, a reason why they are such loving parents for their daughter Zoe.
  • Go-Karting with Bowser: Supervillains are also playable in the game, albeit mainly in the game's Free Play mode.
  • Guest Fighter: Star Wars characters Ahsoka Tano, the Mandalorian and Han Solo and Chewbacca, Walt Disney's mascot Mickey Mouse, and Sega's mascot Sonic the Hedgehog and antihero Shadow the Hedgehog are DLC playable characters.
  • Leotard of Power:
    • A number of female superheroes and supervillains wear these.
    • Mary Jane Watson and her bandmates the Mary Janes wear these during the Grandmaster's tournament. It is justified in a cutscene of the game and the Prelude comic that it was due to Betty Brant's suggestion of making the band members look as attractive as some of the female heroes (mostly Captain Marvel, Invisible Woman and She-Hulk).

    • Clark Gregg once again reprises his role as Phil Coulson.
  • Scream Discretion Shot: Happens when Arcade is bitten by Mary Jane's tiger Diego.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: Doctor Octopus says this when hearing an argument between Green Goblin, Taskmaster and Venom after they are teleported to Antarctica.
  • Team Mom: Both Susan Storm / Invisible Woman and Gamora fit this trope for the Fantastic Four and the Guardians of the Galaxy, respectively.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork - Just because supervillains are working together in the Intergalactic Grand Prix, it does not mean they appreciate it.
    • Two major examples are Klaw and Man-Ape: they are only working together out of their mutual hatred for Black Panther, but they still hate each other.
