14 years ago, Oscorp scientists were analyzing an unknown alien relic under Norman Osborn's orders while 6-year-old Kate Bishop awaited for her parents (who were among the scientists working there) to come back for her. Just then, the facility was attacked and destroyed by an incoming Kree ship, resulting in the scientists (except Osborn) getting killed in the progress, leaving Kate an orphan. In Present day, a grown up Kate (now acting as vigilante Redhawk) and her Inhuman lover Aamir the Phantom Tiger and pet hawk and sidekick Maverick intercept and defeat Silver Sable and Kraven the Hunter and stop them from trying to bomb Baxter Institute under Osborn's orders[3]. Later, Kate sends a small drone to sneak into Osborn's office to uncover evidences of Osborn's next plans; one involves a treasure in an unknown Inhuman temple, and sets out to alert the Avengers about it.

Next day, the Avengers (now joined by Natasha "Nat" Romanoff / Black Widow, Clint Barton / Ronin and Scott Lang / Ant-Man) defeat a crew of Sakaarian pirates sent by Ronan the Accuser to retrieve an unknown weapon which Osborn is storing in Oscorp. They are joined in the fight by Phantom Tiger, Redhawk and Maverick, and defeat the pirates before overhearing of Osborn's plans about the Inhuman temple's treasure. While they agree to stop Osborn's mercenaries, they are also informed that Madame Masque, who had restored her ship[4] using what was left of her mask's power and recruited Wakandan Exile N'Jadaka / Killmonger and Darren Cross / Yellowjacket for her cause, also seeks the treasure, coming to the understanding of how hazardous the mission will be. They reach the temple in Norway, and Thor recognizes the place, which is said to guard other secrets besides the treasure, including a dormant monster which will bring doom to all once it regains its full power. Osborn and his crew (consisting of Kraven, Silver Sable and her mercenaries from Silver Sable International) also arrive, but end up attacked by Madame Masque, Killmonger and Yellowjacket. The issuing fight eventually awakens the Alpha Primitives in the temple, which proceed to attack the Avengers.

The Avengers fight off the Alpha Primitives before they are joined in by Captain Marvel's former superior and commander at S.W.O.R.D. Abigail Brand, who is leading a small S.W.O.R.D. unit on a mission to destroy the treasure, which is revealed to be an ancient scepter with the power to control every Inhuman (both on Earth and Attilan). The Avengers acknowledge that Madame Masque plans to use the scepter to have all Inhumans as slaves while Iron Man deduces that Osborn seeks to control Inhumans to help him destroy Baxter Institute and any other company opposing Oscorp. Overcoming several traps and hazards in the temple, they reach the Scepter's section in the center of the Temple. They are however ambushed by Madame Masque's faction and Osborn's crew and a fight issues. Though Black Widow and Ronin seize the Scepter, the issuing rumble eventually awakens the Badoon-Cylek, an ancient genetic parasitic experiment which the Badoon left behind in the Inhuman temple, and with the goal to consume Earth's Moon.

The Badoon-Cylek begins attacking both heroes and villains, as Kate begrudgingly escorts Osborn away from the fight. Though Sable's mercenaries are devoured and she and Kraven are helplessly forced to retreat, Kate has Maverick take the Scepter (which the Badoon-Cylek was sworn to guard) and use to lure the Badoon-Cylek away from the area into the temple's battlefield, where the Avengers begin using the weapons stored in it to hold the beast off. Against Osborn's wishes, Kate also has Maverick destroy the Scepter, and Maverick does so by converting the Scepter into a concussive volcanic bomb and toss it inside Badoon-Cylek's mouth, exploding it and killing the beast in the progress. Madame Masque, Killmonger and Yellowjacket forcibly retreat empty-handed while vowing revenge on the heroes. A enraged Osborn returns to New York to report to the authorities about the Avengers' interference, but the authorities (having received Kate's message about Osborn's hostile intentions against rival companies) only give him a restraining order to keep him and his employees away from Baxter Institute, Stark Industries and all others, while Phantom Tiger casts a judgement shaman spell on Osborn which forces him to envision the ghosts of "those who perished working for him", including Kate's parents. The Avengers praise Phantom Tiger, Redhawk and Maverick for their performance and welcome them to the team. They accept as Aamir invites them for a visit in his village, and Kate is approached by Nick Fury, who convinces her that she requires military education if she is really determined to be an Avenger and offers her an enrollment at S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy, which she also accepts.
