Plot

Nathan Quill / Star-Lord, Miles Morales / Kid Arachnid, Drax the Destroyer and Yondu Udonta intercept the members of the Crimson Dynamo Force[1] (C.D.F.), who are launching an assault at New York to retrieve the technology resources stolen from them by Aldrich Killian[2]. They are joined in by Tony Stark / Iron Man and S.H.I.E.L.D. officer and Miles' father Jefferson Davis / Prowler, and they defeat the C.D.F., forcing them to retreat. Meanwhile, Davis' niece Riri Davis Williams[3] is on her way home after another day at Bilderberg Academy. During which along the way, she discovers a syntethic prototype of the Iron Man helmet in a destroyed facility, and takes it home.

Later on, Nathan is with Zoe Gillan, Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic, Susan Storm / Invisible Woman in a science fair at Stark Expo while giving Teresa Parker a tour around the facility. During which, Rocket Raccoon and Nebula are with Stark checking on a new cybernetic symbiote designated as "Extremis", which Stark extracted from a Killian Industries facility which was destroyed during the Avengers' latest conflict with A.I.M.. Attempting to identity the source of the Extremis, Nebula's cybernetic implants detect the syntethic Iron Man helmet in Riri's possession and she seeks it out. Arriving in Morales Resistance, Nebula is met with S.H.I.E.L.D. nurse Rio Morales, who genuinely entrusts her to look after Riri while Miles goes attend to his internship at Stark Expo, and encounters Riri having used the collected helmet to create her own prototype Iron Man suit, which Nebula grants an upgrade and further teaches Riri how it works. Meanwhile, Ashley Kafka (seeking to get Stark Industries to endorse Midtown High School) attempts to enamore Stark's son Cameron / Lightyear, only to find out that he is already dating Sally Avril / Snow Leopard, who has become resentful of Kafka since their previous encounter[4]. Back in Stark Expo, Nathan and Zoe continue showing Teresa around until the Expo is attacked by Obadiah Stane (the corrupt CEO of Stane Industries who operates as Iron Monger), who seeks to take over the Extremis Symbiote for ransom, and Korath, who was sent by Ronan to retrieve the organism by any means.

Quickly donning the Iron Man suit, Stark arrives in scene and engages Stane while Rocket and Nebula take on Korath, allowing Nathan, Zoe, Teresa and the incoming Miles to suit up as Star-Lord, Gamora, Iron Phoenix and Kid Arachnid and join the fight. Korath summons Kree sentries to attack the facility, but they are held back by Yondu, Drax, Snow Leopard, Lightyear, Cougar and Groot; the latter two were off dealing with cybernetic alien parasites which resemble the Extremis symbiote. On the middle of the chaos, Kafka takes advantage of the heroes' impending distraction to enter Stark's lab and seek a reliable resource to get Stark to endorse Midtown High. She eventually sees the Extremis Symbiote, which is quick to bond with her and imbue her with a new armor similar to Stark's Iron Man suit. She then joins the fight against Stane and Korath and defeats them before (against the heroes' approval) putting her new "Iron Lady" alias to the public. Stane retreats, but begins formulating a new plan in mind after recognizing Kafka as the daughter of one of his former employees. Kafka continues operating around the city in her new superhero form, but she finds herself having a new "competitor" with another new heroine identified only as Ironheart. The Guardians, Lightyear, Snow Leopard and Kid Arachnid encounter Ironheart, who is revealed to be Riri seeking to undergo heroics as a means to cope with the loss of her parents following their death during the Oscorp riot[5]. Kafka soon comes by scolding at Riri out of jealousy of her newfound popularity, but is soon reprimanded for her greed by Sally, and eventually overhears Stane calling her out, ordering Kafka to surrender the Extremis in exchange of the lives of her loved ones; those including Kafka's mother (and Stane's former employee) and sister Penny as well as her fellow high school cheerleaders and Harry Osborn.

Kafka confronts Stane in Oscorp for a stand-off, but when Stane further holds the hostages at the gunpoint, she reluctantly surrenders the Symbiote. However, the Symbiote soon begins to absorb Stane's armor and reveal to have a mind of its own, as it plots to absorb Stark Industries' database to control all the planet's technology. The Symbiote soon takes control of Kafka's body and goes for a rampage. The Guardians and their allies free Stane's hostages and confront the Extremis, even though it begins controlling Stane's robots as well. Stane recovers and attempts to reprogram his armor until he is confronted by Norman Osborn over Stane's kidnapping of his son, during which Stane becomes frightened when Osborn reveals to be possessed by the Goblin[6]. Discovering her Ironheart suit's files (which include database of both Stark and Stane Industries) Riri draws the Extremis Symbiote's attention and lures it into Stane Industries' unstable Arc Reactor, where the organism is trapped by Star-Lord and Groot while Gamora and Nebula separate Kafka from the Symbiote, allowing Miles to overload the Reactor with his Electro-Blasts, resulting in a explosion which obliterates the Symbiote and the Stane Industries facility with it, deactivating the corrupted robots in the progress. Stane is charged for the Extremis Symbiote's rampage and arrested, while Kafka is put in detention at Midtown High School for stealling the Symbiote from Stark Industries. Riri earns praise from the heroes for her performance and invited by Teresa, Miles and Cameron to join the New Champions, while Nathan and his fellow Guardians (having discovered that the Extremis Symbiote was one of the parasites Groot and Cougar fought earlier) decide to travel in space alongside Richards and Susan to stop the parasites. Meanwhile, Korath reports to Ronan of his failure, but Ronan (assuming that the Guardians had again stood between the Kree and their goals) decide to reconsider his plans about the Symbiote, and let its kind deal away with the Guardians for him and the Empire[7].
