Plot

Having been allowed by Peter Parker and his sister Teresa to use the Triskelion as their new headquarters[1], the Champions are now discussing about and working on what each part of their headquarters the Triskelion will be, such as the training room, briefing room, etc., although the main research rooms and laboratories remain the way they are. On the middle of his and his friends' work, Peter is approached by Yuri Watanabe, who informs him that two children "he and his friends might know" have just developed super-powers and are circling around in New York (having been spotted by media apprehending Tinkerer and identified to as "Speed" and "Ant-Girl"), and insists on having someone to look after them. Peter is initially unsure if he is fit for the job, but remembering Uncle Ben's words about Great Power coming with Great Responsibility, accepts by asking where to find them. In the Cellar, Whitney Frost / Madame Masque[2], having acquired her own version of Otto Octavius' tentacle harness and Norman Osborn's Green Goblin suit thanks to some remaining power in her damaged mask, manages to break out of her cell, plotting to regain her glory.

Suiting up for action, Spider-Man tracks down and reaches the super-powered children, who are revealed to be Marcus Thompson's younger brother Jack (who had developed superhuman speed powers) and Gwen Stacy's little cousin Cassie Lang (who earned her own prototype of her father Scott's Ant-Man suit). After a visit in the Triskelion for check-up, the two show him a bag containing Kree chemicals and technologic relics which had duplicated Quicksilver's powers and Ant-Man's technology which they collected following Ant-Man's team-up with Quicksilver to defeat Kree captain Yon-Rogg. Spider-Man proceeds to train Jack and Cassie while Mary Jane Watson, Teresa and Watanabe check on the chemicals and relics more. Elsewhere, Carolyn Trainer[3] is overhearing news about Octavius' last defeat and Osborn's arrest. Inspired by Spider-Man's actions and convinced that she does have a real chance for redemption, recreates her tentacle harness and becomes Lady Octopus once more. Over her course, Carolyn confronts Madame Masque, who is having a shootout against the police, and takes her to a fight, but is outmatched until Spider-Man, Speed and Ant-Girl arrive to stop Madame Masque, forcing her to retreat. Later on, Spider-Man and Lady Octopus are contacted by Nick Fury, who informs them that the Wakandan mask still had some degree of its power left even after the ship which powered it up was destroyed by Arsenal. Deducing that Madame Masque seeks to rebuilt the ship to regain her full power, Spider-Man, Speed, Ant-Girl and Lady Octopus set out to stop her. Just then, they are chased by Yon-Rogg and Kree scientist Minn-Erva, who seek to retain the Kree energy extracted by the children by any means; including even exterminating them.

Spider-Man and Lady Octopus consequently fight Yon-Rogg and Minn-Erva in the children's defense and defeat them before Speed creates a whirlwind to distract Yon-Rogg and Minn-Erva while Ant-Girl teleports everyone away via the Quantum Realm. Stopping by the same area where the Wakandan ship was destroyed, Spider-Man and Lady Octopus consider permanently disposing of its remains to insure Madame Masque will not reassemble them. During which, Spider-Man soon notices Speed and Ant-Girl progressively (but unknowingly) sharing their energies with each other. Also seeing this, Carlie Cooper deduces that the Kree relics the children absorbed also created an astral link between them, meaning they will get stronger and more powerful as long as they are together, and Spider-Man assumes it will happen sooner than they can expect because of how close and attached Jack and Cassie have been to one another (according to Marcus and Gwen), and also must make sure Yon-Rogg is unaware of this. Spider-Man and Lady Octopus manage to dispose of and destroy the remains of the ship in time before Madame Masque arrives and challenges them for another fight. Yon-Rogg and Minn-Erva (having tracked the children down through Madame Masque) also arrive, but Speed and Ant-Girl manage to remain hidden (and stay together as Spider-Man wants them to). Having a moment alone, Speed and Ant-Girl soon notice their energies transferring themselves to one another again and again. Realizing what Spider-Man discovered, they join hands, strengthening their bond and sharing their powers to one another.

As the fight outside goes on, Speed and Ant-Girl (with their powers shared and boosted) manage to create a Quantum particle-powered tornado which causes molecules in the island's surroundings, including Yon-Rogg, Minn-Erva and Madame Masque, to shrink and grow uncontrollably. Only Spider-Man and Lady Octopus remain unaffected thanks to the Pym Particle devices they are wearing. Speed and Ant-Girl continue spinning the vortex to the point they send Yon-Rogg and Minn-Erva flying out of Earth, causing them to freeze helplessly in space, and stop the vortex. An enraged Madame Masque attempts to attack the four, but her Goblin armor and tentacle harness (which were powered by her mask's remaining energies) run out of power, allowing Lady Octopus to knock her out and Spider-Man to web her down. Back in New York, Spider-Man is congratulated by Fury and Watanabe for training the children well while Jack and Cassie are well greeted by Marcus and Gwen and accepted to the team. Frost is taken to prison again while (in response of Lady Octopus saying the "Power of Friendship" saved the world) loudly and angrily ranting Carolyn's options as a childish and "illogical" thought until Spider-Girl shoots a web on her mouth shut. As Carolyn takes her leave to join S.H.I.E.L.D., Spider-Man oversees the work done in the Triskelion while he and Tigra watch pleased as Jack and Cassie enjoy themselves.

Trivia

  • The title of the episode is a reference to the song "Real Wild Child", Iggy Pop's version of the song "Wild One".
  • During the moment Speed and Ant-Girl create their Quantum particle-powered vortex, the effects on Madame Masque, Yon-Rogg and Minn-Erva are somewhat similar to Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Yondu and Kraglin in the moment their ship hops 700 jumps to reach Ego in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
