Mario Sluggers Shining Bright! is a sports video game and a launch title for Nintendo Rift.
Synopsis[]
Mario and his friends choose to play more baseball as suddenly strange cosmic stones crash land in the Mushroom Kingdom, rifting and messing up the Mushroom Kingdom. The game's story mode involves Mario and his friends in a chaotic roguelike story mode to rebuild the Mushroom Kingdom and stop a corruptive force that spread with these gems.

- Mario (voiced by Kevin Afghani) - an energetic and lovable Italian Plumber who enjoys playing baseball as he leads the team Mario Superstars, proving himself as a great player while learning of the strange reality warping powers and chaos of the Gems.
- Luigi (also voiced by Kevin Afghani) - a kindhearted yet cowardly Italian Plumber who appears to be the younger brother of Mario, despite being taller than him. He leads the Luigi Scaredy Cats and has to master the chaos of these sudden gems as well.
- Princess Peach (voiced by Courtney Lin) - the girly yet friendly and well-meaning ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom who is also a proficient baseball player as she leads the team Mushroom Blossoms to compete in this chaotic tournament, proving her might as a baseball player.
- Princess Daisy (voiced by Giselle Fernandez) - the tomboyish and energetic but impulsive ruler of Sarasaland who happens to be a pro at baseball as she leads the Flowering Daisies to compete in the tournament, showing off her athleticism and skills.
- Donkey Kong (voiced by Koji Takeda) - Mario's friendly rival, and a silly and banana-loving yet adventurous gorilla from the Jungle Kingdom who also joins this new baseball tournament, being the leader of the team Mighty Kongs, really enjoying these new games.
- Diddy Kong (voiced by Katsumi Suzuki) - Donkey Kong’s playful best friend and sidekick. Despite his small size, he’s capable of doing acrobatics which makes him a great baseball player as he leads the Diddy All-Stars team and truly wants to prove himself.
- Bowser (voiced by Kenny James) - the tyrannical yet silly and goofy king of the Koopas who learns of the mysterious Gems and joins the new baseball tournament seeking to harness their power, as he leads the team Burning Koopas although he quickly has to help Mario and his pals to save the day.
- Bowser Jr. (voiced by Caety Sagoian) - Bowser’s mischief-loving son who assists in his father in finding the mysterious Gems and seeks to satisfy him, leading the Junior Blazers. However, he alongside Bowser decide to start helping Mario and his friends.
- Wario (also voiced by Kevin Afghani) - a greedy and money loving man who is Mario's self claimed greatest rival as he also chooses to compete in this baseball tournament while wanting to hoard the gems, leading the team of the Golden Gods.
- Waluigi (also voiced by Kevin Afghani) - Wario’s tall right-hand man who claims to be Luigi’s greatest rival as he helps Wario in finding the gems together, as he leads the team of Lanky Machines although he happens to be far less honorable than Wario.
Others[]
- Toads (all voiced by Laila Berzins) - the goofy and silly wards of the Mushroom Kingdom who all are thrust into these baseball games as well, with any Team Leader capable of choosing the Toads to help them out in playing baseball against other teams.
- Goombas - one of Bowser's many loyal goons and henchmen who are small brown creatures who are shockingly skilled at both batting and at catching balls.
- Koopas - one of Bowser's many loyal goons and henchmen who are small turtle-like creatures who are also good batters and catchers, with them being capable of actually turning into shells.
- Spikes - one of Bowser’s many loyal goons and henchmen who are great at throwing balls, spiked balls included, hence their name.

- Mushroom Field - a baseball field taking place at Peach's home and castle in the Mushroom Kingdom, which serves as a basic stage for the game, having no real surprising gimmicks or anything.
Gem Gimmicks[]
- Multiball - the thrown ball suddenly duplicates into multiple copies of the same ball.
- Fire Flower Ball - the throw ball turns into a fire ball when batted which knocks the ball out of the hands of the first person who catches it.
