Kaboom! is a 2002 American computer-animated satirical action comedy fantasy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and Lightstorm Entertainment for Walt Disney Pictures and produced, written and directed by James Cameron in his animation debut. It is a satire of the action genre and associated clichés, containing several parodies of action films in the form of films within the film. The film stars the voices of Tom Cruise, Haley Joel Osment, Hugo Weaving, Lindsay Lohan, Eddie Murphy, Bill Paxton, Bonnie Hunt and John Ratzenberger. The film was universally praised for its visuals, animation, meta-humour, action sequences, voice acting, musical score and story. The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. The film was released on June 7, 2002, becoming a box office success, grossing $512 million on a $120 million budget.
