Joseph Sammy Anderson (July 15, 1943 - December 31, 2018) known professionally as Joseph Andy was an American filmmaker known for directing films in the action and adventure genres, the younger brother of Carl Andy, he directed films such as Area 88 and Top of the Rock and worked with megastars like Charles Bronson, Sylvester Stallone and Eddie Murphy.

on New Year's Eve, 2018, Joseph was found dead of suicide from hanging.


Early Life

Joeseph was born at the UCLA Medical Center on July 15, 1943, he attended Brooklyn City School in 1954 but was expelled in 1957 for getting into fights with other students, there he became a Boxer at the age of 15 under the name "Battlin' Joe" and fought in bars and underground clubs late on Thursday or Friday nights, his career came to an end in 1963 when he got injuries during a match that gave him a scar across his forehead that required facial surgery, he was considered unable to fight and retired, years later in 1966 he was drafted to the US Marines to serve in Vietnam
