John Payne is an archeologist, adventurer, cientist and museum instructor that serves as the main protagonist in the John Payne Saga. He is portrayed by George Clooney.
Biography[]
Jonathan was born as the only child of Albert Payne and Nadya Meckenzie, two famous english-canadian archeologists and reseachers, in Montreau. As a child, he spent most of his life in the companion of his father, as his mother work in the cure of a rare desease in South-Africa.

When John was just 14 years old, in the summer camp, he, with his fellow comrade Leslie Powell find an cave full of ordinary bandits, led by Possum, a well know thief in the vast area who are famous for pursue of gold and selling guns. When he entered in the cave, he noticed that his goons were excavating an object thet Jonathan only thoug to exist in legends and mythology, The Wall of God Map. John insists in entering the cave, while Leslie covered in fear. The two, then, entered the cave, trying to take the map to themselves. The plan was going good, until Possum and his men discovered this, and led an hunt on John and Leslie. Together, the two run through all the forest, trying to escape from them. While in the run, they almost fall in a hole, take boats to get in the other side of a river and almost get killed, however they managed to get back to the camp. Back there, they showed the map to their supervisor, who quickly shows it to all of the other campers. In a matter of one hour, the notice spread through the small city. But Possum returned, and when John and Leslie were alone, he met the two, demanding the map back, wich John denied, but he nopticed that the police demanded it as well, so, John gave it back to Possum. Soon, the day was not remember as a discovery day, but the worst day in the life of John.

Later, one year after the discovery, in 1987, Albert and John received the notice that their wife and mother, died, a death possibly caused by the rare desease. Albert fall into days of depression, and after he regains sanity, he became a much more 'paternal' figure to John.
