Ile Saint-Hubert is a massive island, 226 miles east of French Guiana, around the equator. It was initially a secret early research facility for Jurassic Park and later on Jurassic World. But after the escape of their deadly mutant, the Distortus Rex, InGen abandon the island. The coordinates for the island is 5°06'47.5"N, 49°04'45.1"W.
The massive island was used as secret facility to make mutant dinosaurs for Jurassic World, like the Mutadons and the deadly lethal mutant Tyrannosaurus, the Distortus Rex, which later escaped and caused the abandonment of the island. Which later on the dinosaurs on the large island created a fully functional ecosystem for 17 years.
Location and Geography[]
The massive island is located 226 miles east of French Guiana. It was larger then Isla Sorna and Isla Nublar. It has many rocky features and is quite large. It is really large enough to support many large herbivorous and carnivorous dinosaurs. It contains an abandoned InGen research facility and a village complex powered by geothermal energy. Pipes transport geothermal energy across the island to the village complex, which is surrounded by electric fences. There is an underground tunnel network connecting the whole island. Type 6 Utility Vehicles were used on the island.
History[]
Early History[]
The island was inhabited by natives at some point in its history as ruins of Mayan-style buildings line the island. Ile Saint-Hubert was purchased by InGen at some point and was used as one of, if not the first, research facilities for John Hammond's Jurassic Park. In 1998, Simon Masrani and his company, Masrani Global, purchased InGen after the San Diego incident ayear prior. Therefore Ile Saint-Hubert came under their jurisdiction.
Under InGen (1998-2008)[]
The island was used by InGen, which was under the control of the Masrani Corporation in order to conduct experiments for Jurassic World, with a research facility being established in 2005. Most notably, they experimented with dinosaurs and created mutants and hybrids, like the Mutadons and the deadly mutant Distortus Rex. These experiments aimed to create new dinosaurs to maintain audience interest. However, in 2010, the Distortus rex escaped in a containment breach, killing a scientist named Williams, with the creatures being left behind as the island was subsequently abandoned, with world governments restricting access to it.
Later History[]
After the earth was proven largely inhospitable for the de-extinct dinosaurs, except on a few isolated islands near the equator. Most of the de-extinct species from the Biosyn Sanctuary, and some from the mainland, were later on transported to this island, and with the ordinary species on the island, creating a self sustainable and fully functional ecosystem on the island as one of the last places where de-extinct dinosaurs can survive for a long-term of life.
Jurassic World: A New Era (2028)[]
The dinosaurs had been roaming Earth since their release into the mainland in 2018, but 10 years later, by 2028, it was proven to be inhospitable due to its altered landscape and diseases, except for the Biosyn Sanctuary since it was declared a Global Sanctuary and has a UN climate controoled system in the massive valley. Some species survived in a few isolated, tropical climates in equatorial regions, such as Ile Saint-Hubert, as the climate near the equator is reminiscent of the Earth's climate "60 million years ago." An unknown disease has emerged, from unknown resources, and killed at least half the population of humans.
The pharma company Parker-Genix aimed to use DNA from the three largest species from land, sea, and air, the Titanosaurus, the Mosasaurus, the Quetzalcoatlus, respectively, in the hope of creating a cure, Paleodioxin, with miraculous life-saving benefits for humankind from the deadly disease. Zara Bennett and a team went to the island to an expedition to collect blood samples from those three species. They successfully collected the samples, but did not hand them over to Parker-Genix, who would have solely owned the patent for the drug.
Ecology[]
Although dinosaurs dominated the island, modern species such as capuchin monkeys and gulls are present. Dolphins swim near the island, as does the Mosasaurus.
Among carnivorous dinosaurs, Tyrannosaurus and Spinosaurus are at the top of the food chain as some of the dominant predators. Spinosaurus swims around the island, with at least some working in conjunction with the Mosasaurus to hunt. Due to it's large size, Distortus Rex, a mutant Tyrannosaurus, is the island's apex predator, until it was killed and the Tyrannosaurus and Spinosaurus became the two apex predators of the island. Medium-sized carnivores like Baryonyx, and Carnotaurus, and Majungasurus occupy the hadrosaurs and possibly large-medium sauropods. Smaller carnivores, such as Velociraptors, Monolophosaurus, Dilophosaurus, and Mutadons, and Compsognathus occupy on their own niches.
On the other hand, giant herbivores like sauropods, such as Titanosaurus, Brachiosaurus, and Apatosaurus, have the advantage of feeding on high and medium trees, while leaving grass and low vegetation to lesser herbivores, which are restricted to feeding at this level, such as Aquilops, Ankylosaurus, and Pachycelophosaurus, and Maiasaura, Edmontosaurus, Parasaurolophus, and Stegosaurus, and Triceratops, and Gallimimus and many more, thus demonstrating the partitioning of the herbivore niche.
The Therizinosaurus is known to reside in the deep dark forest part of the island, where medium sized herbivores and carnivores are afraid to enter their territories.
Pterosaurs like Pteranodon, Anurognathus, and Quetzalcoatlus soar through the skies.
