Plot[]

After recovering from her father's death, Alyx and Gordon fly off to the Arctic, where the Borealis is. When there, they charge throught the ship to find Judith Mossman tied up.

They ask about the Combine, and she tells them about their plan to cause a bigger Black Mesa Incident. She explains that the Combine want to destroy Earth with a bomb so they can hide their bad reputation. Just then, they are chased by more Combine, and escape through a Combine portal. Just then, the G-Man congratulates Gordon on his escape, but places him in the heart of the White Forest for unknown reasons. Along the way, Gordon meets various people who help him through the Combine until he meets Adrian Shepherd, a former HECU Grunt involved in the Black Mesa Incident.

Eventually, he meets Alyx, Kleiner and Mossman at Silo 1 as Mossman is telling the crew about the Combine's plan to destroy the Earth. Kleiner finds a heat signature in a place in a far-off city named Peckwood. Gordon, Alyx and Shepherd fight their way to Peckwood where they see Barney and other citizens held captive. Gordon sets them free as they attempt to find and disable the bomb. Eventually, they reach an underground mine infested with zombies. Shepherd sacrifices his life to save the trio.
