The Green Goblin is the alias of several kinds of fictional supervillains appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The first and best well known incarnation, Norman Osborn, created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, is generally considered to be the archenemy of Spider-Man. Originally a manifestation of chemically induced insanity, others such as Norman's son Harry Osborn would take on the persona. The Green Goblin is a Halloween-themed supervillain whose weapons resemble bats, ghosts and jack-o'-lanterns and in most incarnations (both in the main and alternate universe), he uses a hoverboard or glider to fly.

Comics journalist and historian Mike Conroy writes of the character: "Of all the costumed villains who've plagued Spider-Man over the years, the most flat-out unhinged and terrifying of them all is the Green Goblin." The Green Goblin has appeared in numerous media adaptations of Spider-Man over the years, including films, animated television series, and video games. Norman Osborn is portrayed by Willem Dafoe in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man film trilogy (2002–2007) and the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), and by Chris Cooper in the 2014 film The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Harry was portrayed by James Franco in the Spider-Man trilogy and by Dane DeHaan in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

• Norman Osborn / Green Goblin appears in Marvel's Spider-Man: Webbed Champion, voiced by Jeffrey Combs (replacing Josh Keaton in Season 1). He maintains his story from Season 1 to Season 2 episode "Between Ock and a Hard Place". Presumed dead since the events of "Hobgoblin, Part 2", Norman is revealed to have survived and gone into hiding with some of the technology he kept for himself from Oscorp. It is also revealed that he played a role in the deaths of Peter Parker's parents by turning them over to the Red Skull in retaliation of the couple having not agreed to work for him at Oscorp, inadvertently leaving Peter and his sister Teresa as orphans, and also killed Harry's real parents to take Harry in as his own. Later reappearing in "Seeds of Life" as the Green Goblin, Osborn allied himself with Red Skull and his Hydra forces once more by working on human cloning using the cloning research he collected from Jackal. He was eventually defeated by Spider-Man and Teresa / Stormranger, who teleported him back to New York. There, Osborn was devastated and enraged with the reports of Harry's acclaimed death (due to Harry faking his death as an effort to break Norman mentally), and plotted revenge on Spider-Man and his friends. He consequently failed, and ended up defeated by the Champions while AC-5 used footage collected by Stormranger to expose Osborn's crimes and true colors to all over the city, leading to Osborn's life arrest, and the end of Oscorp. Despite not appearing in the Season's last episodes, it is mentioned by Tigra that she induced Osborn with a mind spell which caused him to permanently hallucinate of revenants of the people he persecuted and betrayed, including Peter's parents Richard and Mary, and his own son Harry, leaving Osborn traumatized for life.
  • Despite not appearing in the show's Disney+ sequel miniseries Marvel's Spider-Man: Rising Legend, Norman Osborn is mentioned random times in the episodes. In the second and third episodes "Man's Best Friend" and "Sibling Dynasty", Norman is revealed to have two biological sons named Russell (voiced by Jason Spisak) and Aaron (voiced by Will Friedle); Russell was subjected to an unstable Oscorp formula which physically enhanced him, but at the cost of his sanity. As Russell was captured and sentenced to Ravencroft Institute, Aaron (who ended up caught in a lab explosion which hideously mutated his DNA and appearance) went into hiding for years, and became a social outcast. In present day, Russell escapes Ravencroft Institute with help from Cletus Kasady, and dons some of the Oscorp technology he stole from Alchemax during the superheroes' battle against the Regent's army in "Legendary Universes, Part 6: Ultimate Alliance", becoming the third Hobgoblin. As for Aaron, he donned a similar suit and equipment, along with a jackal-like grey mask, and became the Dark Jackal.
  • Norman Osborn / Green Goblin returns in the show's Disney+ follow-up TV movie Marvel's Superhero Adventures: Infinity War. While he has no dialogues, his vocal effects were provided by Fred Tatasciore. It is revealed that, sometime after his arrest, Tyler Hayward and his henchmen liberated Osborn from prison to turn into a living weapon for the Thunderbolt program; using an mind control device installed in his brain and a combination of the Super-Soldier serum with a small sample of Red Hulk's DNA, Hayward transformed Osborn into a mindless winged goblin-like monster (the new Green Goblin form is based on the Ultimate Green Goblin featured in the 2012-2017 Ultimate Spider-Man TV series). A member of the Thunderbolts, Green Goblin was sent to dispose of Thanos and his forces, but was overwhelmed by Thanos's Klyntauri, and converted into a brainwashed cyborg member of Thanos's New Black Order. In the film's Present day events, Goblin is sent to ambush Wiccan, Gamora, Gwen Stacy / Ghost-Spider, and Captain Marvel on Vormir, where the Soul Stone is located in. They fight him, and (following the Stonekeeper's advice that the Soul Stone can only be earned by sacrificing a mortal with a guilty, evil soul) exact to throw him into the abyss. They succeed when Wiccan (deducing that Norman's essence is dormant within the Goblin's mind) forces Goblin to reexperience repressed memories of his adopted son Harry, causing the Goblin to freak out, which allows Ghost-Spider and Gamora to rip his wings off, and Captain Marvel to blast him into the abyss to his death, earning Wiccan's group the Stone.
• Norman Osborn also appears in Marvel: All New, All Different Chronicles, voiced by Jeffrey Combs. Still the owner of Oscorp, Osborn is also the benefactor of Midtown High School. Despite worshiped by his son Harry and other students, he is otherwise hated by Peter Parker, who blames him for the incident in Oscorp which led to Uncle Ben's death. Osborn also carries a obsessive hatred for Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic, and strongly disapproves of Peter's decision to drop out of Midtown High to enroll at Richards's school Baxter Institute. From the episode Living Brainstorm, Osborn's brain (and later his mind and body) is possessed by the spirit of the Goblin, slowing transforming him into a sadistic psychopath. The transformation is completed once Goblin has Osborn ingest a serum which hideously mutates his appearance, purging Norman Osborn's persona completely, and letting the Goblin in full control, and therefore becoming the Green Goblin.
  • The Goblin (also voiced by Combs) is an sadistic Dark Elf whose consciousness was absorbed by the Living Brain after a failed assault on Earth. Taking control of the Living Brain, the Goblin was soon accidentally reactivated by two A.I.M. agents and went for a rampage before he was defeated by Spider-Man, Mister Fantastic and Edith, but not before the Goblin transferred his consciousness into some bits of Norman Osborn's brain, slowly taking over his body.
• Green Goblin is a playable character in Marvel Superhero Adventures: Intergalactic Grand Prix, voiced by Steve Blum. One of the supervillains participating in the titular racing tournament hosted by the Grandmaster, Green Goblin owns two karts: the Dark Avenger (a black and grey sportscar with details of the Goblin's glider) and the Storming Overlord (a purple and green hovercar with a pumpkin in the front).
