Grabritin is a 2015 British/American science fiction television series by Starz, created and produced by Doctor Who producer Russell T. Davis and is the prequel to the science fiction novel Beyond Thirty by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the creator of Tarzan and Pellucidar.

Its first season consisting of sixteen episodes premiered on Sky Atlantic on January 16, 2016 and concluded on April 10th 2016, the following month it was renewed for a second season consisting of sixteen episodes.

Plot[]

Set in an alternate reality where America never entered the Great War and as a result the war continued for another few years until Europe has exhausted itself and as a result fell into Barbarism. The series follows two middle class families, The Smiths and the Hendersons who live during the time of England's fall and attack by Germany, the attack leaves many dead and causing law and order to break down. The Smiths and the Hendersons try to survive in this apocalyptic time whilst being relentlessly pursued by bandits and a dangerous pride of man eating Lions that had escaped from London Zoo during the attack.

  • Ivana Baquero as Victoria Smith - A beautiful 23 year old woman who is engaged to Tom Henderson, a soldier in the British Army and the main protagonist. She is a kind, smart and beautiful young woman who knows that despite her mothers reassurance that neither England or Europe is going to recover from the war but decides that she'll do anything she can to help the ones she loves survive against the thugs and man eating lions and tigers that have escaped. She is also confirmed to be the ancestor of Queen Victory the second main protagonist of the novel Beyond Thirty by Edgar Rice Burroughs creator of Tarzan and Pellucidar.
  • Nicolas Hoult as Tom Henderson - A 24 year old Private in the British Army and Victoria's beloved fiancée and childhood friend. He and Victoria were celebrating their engagement in a pub in the East End with his friends when the attack on Great Britain by Germany happened. After the attack he and Victoria went to save his brother and father who worked as Zookeepers in London Zoo when a pride of man eating Lions escaped, he is a kind and caring man who like Victoria will do anything he can to help his loved ones survive the disaster. He is also confirmed to be the ancestor of Queen Victory the second main protagonist of the novel Beyond Thirty by Edgar Rice Burroughs creator of Tarzan and Pellucidar.
  • Alan Rickman as Simon Smith - Victoria and James' 58 year old father and ex husband of Mary. He was at home with his son celebrating their daughters engagement when Germany launched their devastating surprise attack on the city of London. Shorty after the attack ended he, Mary, James, Victoria and Tom went to London Zoo to help save Tom's father and brother who worked there as Zookeepers when they were all attacked by a pride of man eating Lions that escaped and injured him, but he survived. Determined to keep his daughter and son safe, he becomes a fighter ready to take on anyone or anything that may hurt his family.
  • Matthew Lewis as David Henderson - The younger brother of Tom and son of Gordon and Mavis Henderson. He and his father work at the London Zoo as Zookeepers. During the attack on Great Britain they freed many of the animals in the Zoo by opening their cages, although they did refuse to open the Lion cage as the pride that lived in it were man-eaters. However the Zoo was hit by a bomb that freed the Lions and they badly injured David but he escaped, now he has to help his family survive the events that will cause England and the rest of Europe to descent into barbarism.
  • Ian McShane as Gordon Henderson - Tom and David's widowed father who works with his son David at the London Zoo. He and David were busy working in the Zoo when Great Britain was attacked by Germany, although they freed most of the animals they refused to free a dangerous pride of Lions who were man eaters however a bomb hit the enclosure and the Lions escaped badly injuring David although he managed to escape them.
  • Noel Clarke as TBA - A coworker of David at the London Zoo.
  • Jason Issacs as Sir Phillip Burton - The main antagonist of the series. He is an army officer who was stationed with a platoon in London when Germany attacked, following the attack he demands that his soldiers wait until orders are given. However when most of them leave to find their families including Tom Henderson and food starts to become scare, he decides to turn what ever soldiers remain with him to a marauder group who hunted down any of the soldiers that deserted his platoon and steal whatever food they can find. He and his horde become the main enemies of the Hendersons and the Smiths along with the pride of man eating Lions.
  • Steve Halliwell as John (Season 1) - Victoria and James' violent abusive stepfather and current husband to Mary. It was revealed that when Victoria and James were young, he'd lock them in the shed with his vicious dog if they did something naughty until Simon took full custody of them. He hates Tom believing that he should have found a husband for Victoria instead of Simon letting her marry him, as the season goes on he is revealed to have an unhealthy obsession for Victoria and in the last episode of season 1, he tried to rape her until Tom saved her and punched him, knocking off the roof of his house where he is then devoured screaming alive by the Man-eating Lion Pride.
