Godzilla 3: Revenge of Bagan is a 1999 American monster film directed by Jan de Bont and written by Jeff Nathanson and Jonathan Hensleigh. It is a sequel to Godzilla 2: Attack of Ghidorah and the third and final film in Jan de Bont's Godzilla trilogy. The film takes place three years after the defeat of Ghidorah, the boy named Lucas Jordan whose parents were killed by Godzilla as he goes on a quest for revenge on Godzilla and fights against him in Seattle, Washington.
The film had its premiere in Grauman's Chinese Theater on June 4, 1999, was released by Paramount Pictures except in Japan where it was distributed by Toho on June 18, 1999, received critically acclaimed reviews from critics and became a box office success, grossing over $1.195 billion against a $154 million budget, becoming the highest-grossing film of 1999 as well as one of the best entries in the franchise. The film won an Academy Award for Best Picture, a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song for Call Me Once Again by Céline Dion and Michael Bolton, a Saturn Award for Best Special Effects, and two MTV Movie Awards for Best Kiss and Best Fight. It was also nominated by the Saturn Awards, the Academy Awards, the Satellite Awards, the Empire Awards and the Online Film Critics Society.
