Godzilla 2: Attack of Ghidorah is a 1996 American monster film directed by Jan de Bont and written by Shane Salerno and J.J. Abrams. The film is a sequel to Godzilla and takes place two years after the events of the original film as Ghidorah arrives from outer space to Mount Fuji as he attacks on the streets of Paris, France. Rodan emerges from a volcano of Kīlauea in Hawaii as Mothra hatches out an egg. Godzilla arrives from the sea as he joins Mothra and Rodan to attack Ghidorah. The film received positive reviews from critics and became a box office success, grossing over $890 million against a $165 million budget. The film was followed by Godzilla 3: Revenge of Bagan in 1999.
