Garden Of Eden is a 2001 American-Japanese animated magical girl comedy created and developed by Takashi Yamada and Tom Ruegger and produced by Steven Spielberg, Paul Rugg and Mo Willems for the Kids' WB programming block of The WB. Described as both a western homage and satire to the Japanese magical girl genre, the series follows the crime and supernatural fighting escapades of quirky hippie 10th grader Eden Moss and her magical alter-ego with ecokinetic (The ability to control and create plants) powers. This is the fourth animated series produced through the collaboration of Spielberg and Warner Bros. Animation after Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs and Freakazoid!.

In order to not stray away too much from the style of the Japanese "Mahou Shoujo" genre that plagued the 1980s and 1990s, the studio who initially developed Garden Of Eden collaborated with many writers, directors and animators, composers and voices from the anime industry to produce the series. This included bringing in Yamada (A writer previously notable for Ojomajo Doremi) as a main developers and Japanese animation studio TMS Entertainment (Who had prior to the show collaborated with Warner Bros. Animation multiple times on their animations) to be one of the head studios in charge of the production. Nevertheless, Garden Of Eden was still mainly a fantasy-action-comedy very similar to Freakazoid!; Riddled with the slapstick, meta, parodic and surreal humour and pop-culture references showcased in Ruegger's previous work.

SYNOPSIS[]

Eden Moss is supposed to be an "ordinary" 15 year old girl who lives in the environmentally scenic city of Asheville, North Carolina, but even before she became the crime fighting magical girl that everyone knows her for (At least know her alter-ego) today Eden was anything but ordinary. A airy, free-spirited and slightly kooky hippie with an overly-environmentalist attitude, Eden was the odd one at her high school and was frequently teased by the more popular kids; Resulting in her having only a small group of friends despite her social personality. One day on a field trip to the Biltmore Estate, her life would change forever after becoming distracted with the historic museum's plant life.
