Fuzzy the Monster (also known as Fuzzy the Monster the Movie or simply Fuzzy) is an upcoming 2018 American 3D computer-animated adventure comedy film based on the self-published 1994 novel of the same name. It is directed by Paul King from a script written by Aron Warner, John Hogan and Nick Jennings, produced by Jon Foster and James Lamont and features an ensemble cast including Steve Zahn, Frank Welker, Dan Aykroyd, Danny Trejo, Eve Karpf, Ella Purnell, Nicole Olivier, Lorraine Pilkington, Ashley Slater, Peter Sarsgard, Paula Pell, Tim Blake Nelson, Jennifer Ehle, Rodrigo Santoro, Keith Wickham, Audra McDonald, Paul McLoone and Dicken Ashworth.
The film follows the political crisis circulating around a trial involving the Monsterville, an Olympic athlete who was responsible for a mass attack in New York City nine years prior. Principal photography began in March 2017, and wrapped in January 2018. Fuzzy is stated for release in conventional and IMAX theatres on 27 April 2018.
Despite being based on the animated TV series, the film was jointly produced by Walt Disney Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, FTM Productions, and Rough Draft Feature Animation, Development began at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in Beverly Hills and pre-production was done at the main Walt Disney Pictures in Burbank. Walt Disney Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Rough Draft Feature Animation, and FTM Productions, all worked together on the animation with the additional scenes animated at Rough Draft's sister studio in South Korea and clean-up work done at the main Burbank studio. Additional clean-up animation was done by Wang Film Productions (Taiwan) and Yowza Animation (Canada) with digital ink-and-paint done at Collingwood & Co (United Kingdom).
