Freddy Fazbear & Co. (Also known as Five Nights at Freddy's: Faz-Force) is an American–Canadian animated television series based on the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise created by Scott Cawthon. The series is co-produced by WildBrain, Monster Warriors Entertainment, 9 Story Media Group, and Scott Cawthon Productions. It premiered on Nickelodeon in the United States and YTV in Canada on September 14, 2024.

Unlike most FNaF media, this show features a more comedic and lighthearted tone, while keeping some of the horror elements. It also combines some elements from the games, novels, and the movies in one series. The series follows Freddy Fazbear and his animatronic friends as they protect the Pizzaplex from various supernatural threats while parodying common tropes from both the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise and children's "monster of the week" shows and cartoons, kind of like The Aquabats Super Show! and Goosebumps. The show is notable for being a self-aware parody that deliberately subverts audience expectations while maintaining a comedic, gross-out humor approach aimed at older children.

Premise[]

Set in an original timeline separate from the main Five Nights at Freddy's canon, the series follows Thomas and Carrie Emily, grandchildren of franchise character Henry Emily, as they begin working at the Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex. They quickly discover that the animatronics are sentient protectors who defend the establishment from supernatural threats, most notably the Troll King—a crude, gross villain who leads an army of Punk Goblins.

The animatronics form the "Faz-Force," a heroic team that battles various threats while navigating absurd situations that parody both horror and superhero genre conventions. The show frequently breaks the fourth wall and acknowledges its own ridiculous nature, with characters often commenting on the absurdity of their situations.

Development[]

In mid-2022, rumors began circulating about an untitled animated series based on Five Nights at Freddy's. Animation news YouTubers, including Vailskibum94, reported that WildBrain, 9 Story Media Group, and Monster Warriors Entertainment were attached to the project.

The series was officially announced in February 2023 with first-look concept art, confirmation of original series-exclusive characters, and the revelation that it would exist in its own separate timeline, making it non-canon to the mainline game continuity.

According to development reports, the show was originally conceived as an adult animated series with a darker, horror-focused tone. However, during pre-production, Monster Warriors Entertainment founder Nate Gatwin proposed a shift toward a younger demographic with an "edgy, action-focused" approach that was "more comedic and gooey than gory." Scott Cawthon expressed interest in this direction as it would offer something distinctly different from other Five Nights at Freddy's media. The series was subsequently retooled to target older children (ages 7-12) with TV-PG content featuring significant amounts of juvenile humor.

The phrase "gooey not gory" became infamous among fans and critics as emblematic of the show's philosophy of replacing most horror elements with gross-out comedy.
