Development[]
In 2011, Tony Todd said that if Final Destination 5 was a box-office success, then two sequels would be filmed back-to-back. On August 23, when asked whether he would be directing a sequel, Steven Quale, director of 5, elaborated: "Who knows. Never say never. I mean, it'll be up to the fans. We'll see how this one performs internationally, and if it makes as much money as the fourth one, I'm sure Warner Bros. will want to make another one."
In July 2024, during production of Final Destination Bloodlines, producer Craig Perry confirmed that a sequel is in development at New Line Cinema, with Bloodlines directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein directing the film. Most of the crew from Bloodlines returned to work on the film.
Casting[]
On April 8, 2026, Alex Wolff joined the cast as the film's main visionary Marcus Brandon. Along with Wolff, James Corrin and Henry Thomas joined in their film debuts as David Turner and Martin Ambrose respectively. On May 23, Gabe Frost joined the cast as Jamie Smith. On June 4, Adria Arjona, Jake Cannavale, and Jordan Bolger joined the cast. Arjona portrays the film's female lead Jenny Sanchez, Cannavale portrays Corey Walter, and Bolger portrays Robin Howard. The next day, Lana Condor joined as Simone Chen. Frank Grillo was announced to join the cast on June 16.
Despite reprising her role Kimberly Corman in the film, A.J. Cook was not among the cast's announcements to conceal her involvement. The same applied to Michael Landes, who also reprises his role as Thomas Burke.
Filming[]
Unlike its previous predecessors, most of which were filmed in Vancouver, principal photography took place in the New York metropolitan area, mainly in New Jersey. Filming took place from June 24 to September 8, 2026, immediately after Bloodlines wrapped up filming. The opening disaster took place on a private ferry owned by the New York City Department of Transportation.
Music[]
Tim Wynn returned to compose the film's score, having done so for Final Destination Bloodlines.
