Cal and Mary is an American animated television series created for Disney XD by John McIntyre, an animation director on shows such as The Powerpuff Girls, Brandy and Mr. Whiskers, T.U.F.F Puppy and more.

The series aired on April 27, 2014 and ended on May 11, 2016.

Premise

The show focuses on a duo of squids named Cal and Mary. Cal is the orange male squid while Mary is the pink female squid wearing a cyan head bow. They live in a huge aquarium in a seafood restaurant called Jack's Mussels, and every day they jump out of the aquarium to explore the ocean outside the restaurant to interact with the other marine animals, most notably Oscar, a laid-back sea otter who lives on a rock, Sabrina, a sarcastic yet kind seal and Edward, a timid European eel who is afraid of any big sea creature (i.e. a shark or whale).

Main

• Cal: The main protagonist. He is an orange squid who frequently goes out of the aquarium with his partner, Mary. He is well-meaning and helpful, but this often gets him and Mary into trouble. He does not speak, instead communicating through pantomime.
• Mary: The main deuteragonist. She is a pink squid who wears a cyan bow on her head, and frequently goes out of the aquarium with her partner, Cal. She is more careful and intelligent than Cal. Just like Cal, she does not speak, instead communicating through pantomime.

Supporting

• Oscar (voiced by Kel Mitchell): A laid-back sea otter who lives on a rock in the far ocean. He is Cal and Mary's best friend, and enjoys hanging out with them and swimming in the water. He is also a vegetarian, often seen eating seaweed. He speaks in a Canadian accent, including the "eh" whenever he finishes talking. He can understand Cal and Mary despite the fact that they never talk.
• Sabrina (voiced by Jennifer Hale): A seal who, like Oscar, lives on a rock in the far ocean. She can be sarcastic and conceited, but overall kind. She is one of Cal and Mary's friends.
• Edward (voiced by Owen Wilson): A timid European eel who freaks out at the sight of any big sea creature, whether dangerous or not (for example, a shark). He is one of Cal and Mary's friends.
• The Chef (voiced by Diedrich Bader): The burly chef who works at Jack's Mussels. He, including the other human characters, never seem to notice Cal and Mary's absence.
